Beautiful Hair Mix - Dark

Herbal Mixes: Beautiful Hair - Dark

Contains: Nettle Horsetail Shavegrass Oatstraw Henna

Short Description:

The herbal properties of this treatment penetrate only the broken parts of the hair shafts, leaving damaged hair looking healthy and full. The clear silicon creates a brilliant shine and nettle nourishes your scalp. This treatment brings out lovely highlights but does not cover gray hair. The Dark and Red mixtures contain nettle, oatstraw, henna, and horsetail/shavegrass. Strawberry Blonde contains henna, chamomile, nettle, oatstraw, and horsetail/shavegrass. Blonde contains chamomile, nettle, oatstraw, and horsetail/shavegrass.

Here is an herbal hair treatment to be applied directly to your dark hair.

The herbal properties penetrate only the broken part of the hair shafts, leaving damaged hair looking full, shiny, and healthy. The more damaged the hair, the more startling the results.

This treatment does not cover gray or change hair color. Instead, the high silicon content in the Horsetail fills in the damaged strands, taking with it the subtle colors found in other herbs. The Nettle nourishes your scalp, and leaves the hair looking and feeling full and rich. When light hits your hair, the clear silicon, with just a touch of natural earth colors causes a brilliant shine.

This hair treatment is messy. It almost looks and smells like cow slobber when it is on your hair. My girls call it Magic Slime because it is green and slimy. Oh, but it is worth it!

I’d suggest you do this when you know you will not be having company, because the odor lingers until shampooed. You might wait until your husband is not around either. He will enjoy the results much better if he doesn’t have to look at or smell the process.

A woman with medium length, medium thickness hair, will need to use 1/4 cup of the herb mix. Some with short, thin hair will only need 1 or 2 tablespoons. Because the short hair will need less of the mix, it will also need less liquid added to it. I will give you a basic recipe for 1/2 cup, which is what is needed for long, full hair. If you require more or less, you will need to adjust the amount of ingredients accordingly.

Recipe

  • 3/4 cup of lemon or vinegar (use lemon for lighter highlights, or vinegar for red/darker highlights)
  • 1/2 cup of Beautiful Hair Treatment - Dark
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil or mayonnaise (optional)

Directions

In a small pot, mix the lemon or vinegar with the Beautiful Hair - Dark herbal mix. Heat the mixture on the stove for about 5 minutes (don’t let it boil).

Let the mixture cool for about 5 minutes, and mix in the 2 beaten eggs. For those of you with dry hair, add the 2 tablespoons of olive oil or mayonnaise. A bit of Lavender or Rosemary ground into powder can also be added to the treatment at this time to give it a faint, pleasant scent.

Apply the treatment to your hair, ensuring you cover the most damaged parts. Keep the mixture warm by placing a plastic bag over your hair, and wrapping a warm, damp towel around your head.

Leave it on for 45 minutes or so (the longer the better). As the towel cools, you’ll want to warm it up again to get the most out of the treatment.

Without shampooing, rinse your hair, and air dry. Use shampoo the following day. However, if you added the oil or mayonnaise, you may want to shampoo before bedtime to avoid getting the oil on your bedding.

With proper care, this treatment will last a few months.

Beautiful Hair Herbs
by Debora on Jun 16, 2014

The last time I used the Beautiful Hair Herbs, I found the vinegar to be to harsh and it really stripped my hair. However, I tried diluting the vinegar with half water and it worked beautifully. So, if anyone else had this problem, don't get rid of your herbs, just try diluting the vinegar.

Definitely Beautiful Hair
by Sarah on Jun 11, 2014

Wow, I definitely have beautiful hair! I have medium length, fairly fine, ash-colored hair. I used apple cider vinegar plus olive oil, and I ended up with some lovely caramel highlights. I have to say, the stuff smells. I smelled like a pasture and even after washing my hair 3 times since applying it, I still smell a bit cow-like. It goes away when my hair is dry, but even being out in the rain brings it back. It is TOTALLY worth it though. I haven't been able to get my hair cut in a while, my ends were very dry and brittle. It has brought my hair back to life and I think it may have made it longer! Like it's fertilizer for my scalp lol. It's incredibly shiny and I'm fairly certain my hair has never looked so healthy before. I've had a few people tell me how long it looks since applying it. For my length and texture, I don't think I needed 3/4 cup, so I'll adjust that next time. I'm telling all my friends!

It would be best to use Apple Cider Vinegar. Thanks!

Colored hair
by Victoria on Feb 27, 2014

Hi, I currently color my hair with naturtint which is a natural hair coloring product. Could I use Beautiful hair and continue coloring every 2 months...or would i have to stop coring my hair because of the henna?

    Re: Colored hair
by Bulk Herb Store on Feb 28, 2014

    Hello,
I am not sure how the mix would react to colored hair. Because every head of hair is different, there isn't a specific "do this" for everyone. My recommendation is to, try the mix on a small piece of hair, maybe underneath the rest of your hair, and try it out to see what it's effect would be on your head. Thanks!

Rapunzel and Happy Hair
by Carrie on Feb 25, 2014

I am interested in trying this product. Can it be used on hair that has already been chemically treated with color? Also, where can I find the articles for Rapunzel Hair and Happy Hair?

    Re: Rapunzel and Happy Hair
by Bulk Herb Store on Feb 25, 2014

    Hello,
Our hair treatments can be used on color treated hair, however, if you have highlights or even gray hair, it will very possibly change the gray to a golden or orange and intensify the highlights or change the color of them if using a treatment with henna in it as color treated hair are more absorbent than untreated hair. I would recommend testing it on a small section of hair first to make sure it doesn't turn any funky color! You can find the articles you are looking for by clicking on our "Articles" page and they can be found in alphabetical order. Thank you!

How to?
by Melisa on Jan 13, 2014

Hello,

Would you recommend applying the treatment to clean dry hair or to "dirty" day-after wash hair? I wonder which would absorb the treatment best.

    Re: How to?
by Bulk Herb Store on Jan 13, 2014

    Hello,
For optimal results I would recommend washing your hair as normal and then doing a baking soda rinse. Then the next day do the Beautiful Hair treatment. Enjoy!

    Hello,
Proper care is as little blow drying,
straightening and using harsh chemicals on your hair as possible. Thanks!

The effect on light/medium brown hair
by Vicky on Dec 7, 2013

I have light/medium brown hair. What effect will it give my hair? Will it be red? Or will it be more subtle? Thank you :D

Re: The effect on light/medium brown hair
by Bulk Herb Store on Dec 9, 2013

Hello, our Beautiful Hair treatments do not color your hair rather they are meant to bring out your natural color. So, if you have some dark brown color in your hair it will most likely bring that out, but it won't turn it red. Thanks!

Amazing results
by Carla on Oct 23, 2013

I had purchased Beautiful Hair-Dark quite some time ago possibly a year ago. Due to my busy life, I had never used it. I have very thin, short, dry hair and it is graying quite rapidly. The last few weeks my hair has felt so dry and I decided to try this treatment. After rinsing it out, my hair looked different but I wanted to wait till it dried before I made a judgment. When it dried I had no gray hair. Where it had been gray it was more golden. I have dark brown hair so it looks like I have blonde highlights instead of salt and pepper hair. I had to go reread the instructions, "This treatment does not cover gray or change hair color." For me it changed my gray to golden and made the brown darker. Needless to say I will be continuing the use of this. It took at least 5 years off my looks, with out all of the chemicals. One for the record I guess.

Thanks

thinning hair
by Kari on Sep 26, 2013

Hi, I am wondering if this product will help with thinning hair. I have always lost a bit of hair after having a baby. My hair used to be so thick. It never seems to recover after the amount lost after having a baby. I just had my 5th baby 5 months ago and my hair is still falling out by the handfuls and I haven't seen any more new growth yet. Looking for something that might help. Thanks! :-)

Adding Henna
by Jennifer on Sep 19, 2013

Do you think it would work well if I added more henna to the mix to achieve more auburn/red highlights. Without interfering or messing up the process?

    Re: Adding Henna
by Bulk Herb Store on Sep 19, 2013

    Hello,
You can add more Henna if you want to acquire more highlights. It would not mess up the treatment. Good Luck!

    Hello,
When your hair is dry, it is able to soak up the nutrition of the treatment better than if your hair is wet. Thanks!

Weekly Treatment
by Great Product! on Jun 23, 2013

I just wanted to share my highest compliments for this product! I have curly/kinky hair and I have applied this product as a weekly conditioning treatment. The bonus from us is it hides my greys rather well. I start by mixing this product with farm fresh cream, shea butter and coconut oil. In my case this product has been so mild that I can leave the mixture on for the better part of a day. I have noticed my hair to be softer, less frizzy, more manageable, and a beautiful reddish brown!
My advice, apply this product mixture with a salon highlight brush for best coverage!

damaged hair
by Beth on Jun 4, 2013

I have almost waist length hair. My hair has always been so frizzy and kind of wavy ish. For the past couple of years I used baking soda to wash my hair. I now realize this damaged my hair and I think made it lighter ( I used to have very dark brown hair). My hair has always had natural high lights.

Is there any hope this product would repair my hair? Also how many uses would I get out of this product for my length of hair? Thanks!

    Re: damaged hair
by Bulk Herb Store on Jun 5, 2013

It will definitely help with the damage, you can also take the nettle, oatstraw and horsetail internally to help get your hair healthy. Another really good one is Diatomaceous Earth for healthy hair, skin and nails. You should be able to get at-least 3 treatments out of 1/2 lb. if you use 1/2 cup per treatment.

Beautiful hair
by Mariah on May 29, 2013

Hello! I have bleached my hair several times and I'm finally trying to grow it back out to my natural color which is light brown. I was just wondering if this would turn my medium strawberry blonde hair red because of the henna? I don't want to lighten it any more but I don't want it to turn red either!!! Thanks so much!:)

    Re: Beautiful hair
by Bulk Herb Store on May 30, 2013

It doesn't normally turn dark hair red, although it may bring out any natural reddish highlights if you have any. We have never used it on strawberry blonde hair so I don't know for sure what it would do to it but I don't think it would turn red as there is not that much henna in it. You can also mix up your own treatment with equal amounts of all the herbs except leave out the henna to ensure it won't turn red.

by Kayla on May 13, 2013

Hi! i was just wondering if the ingredients listed are the ONLY ingredients in this hair treatment for dark hair: "The Dark and Red mixtures contain nettle, oatstraw, henna, and horsetail/shavegrass".

Thank you!!

    Re: Ingredients
by Bulk Herb Store on May 14, 2013

Yes the herbs listed are the only ingredients in it. The Red treatment has more Henna added to it than the Dark!

Something other than lemon or vinegar?
by Teresa on Apr 28, 2013

My daughter has waist long black curly "baby doll" hair. I currently shampoo it only when necessary and condition it frequently to keep knots at bay. But I still have to use products to restore moisture to her curls. I would LOVE to try this in her hair but don't want to put highlights in her gorgeous black hair. Is there something else I can use besides the lemon or vinegar?

Re: Something other than lemon or vinegar?
by Bulk Herb Store on May 2, 2013

If it was me, I would either try dark coffee or just plain water.

Beautiful Hair--Dark
by Alicia on Apr 27, 2013

Hi, I have a question please....do you sell anything that covers gray? Also, can I use the Beautiful Hair--Dark after having my hair colored, as a treatment? Or will it wash out the color?

Thanks so much,
Alicia

We do carry some herbs like sage, rosemary, black walnut etc. that I have heard people have used before, however I can't be sure of the results as I have never tried any of them myself! Here is a link to some other recipes I found as well:

    http://healthherbs.blogspot.com/2012/12/8-natural-remedy-for-make-gray-hair.html

Yes you can use our hair treatment on colored hair as long as you wait at least 2 wks. after coloring your hair.

Smells like honey

I LOVE your beautiful hair mix for dark hair!! The other day I used it and afterwards my husband was hugging me and said, "mmmm! You smell like honey!!" I just smiled and thanked him. I thought you might enjoy his point of view on it! :-)

Thanks so much!

Hello! I ordered the Beautiful Hair Dark and I must admit that I was a bit skeptical. I have wavy/frizzy hair and live in humid South Louisiana, so my hair has never been easily "tamed". This is a great product! My hair was so shiny and soft! I am growing my hair long so it has been difficult to keep these ends from lookin' rough, but the Beautiful Hair smoothed them out nicely... I will be a repeat customer on this one.

Dredlocks?
by Diane on Jul 28, 2009

I bought some of your Beautiful Hair treatment quite a while back but was hesitant to use it with the current recipe supplied because of the eggs. My hair is dredlocked, and I was fearful of the egg "cooking" in my hair with the rinse. If that were to happen, there would be no way to remove that from my locs! Catastrophe! Anyway, instead of eggs, I use virgin coconut oil with a bit of almond oil. I put the BHT in several tablespoons of almond oil, whip that up, then whip in my VCO, which is a great substitute for the eggs/protein! I hope this information is helpful to those with kinky/coily hair.

Beautiful Hair - Dark
by Tania from Quebec on Jun 9, 2008

I received my order on Friday so Saturday afternoon I tried the Beautiful Hair Dark treatment. At first I had my doubts especially when I started slapping on the green goo... I left the treatment on for 1hr 30 mins, following the instructions to a T on the label... After rinsing out the treatment I let my hair dry naturally for the rest of the day... and before bed I washed them... My hair is so smooth and shiny and there are a lot more highlights now, this is a keeper. Thank you!

Perm damage reversed!!! - Beautiful Hair
by Amy on Mar 3, 2008

I am so pleased with your Beautiful Hair- Dark treatment! Recently, I decided to try getting a perm... The first time my hair was so healthy that the perm didn't take. After the second perm, my hair was dry, brittle, and I was getting a lot of split ends... Anyways, I had wanted to try Beautiful Hair for a long time, and decided to see what it could do for me. I am very happy with the results! Since using the treatment my hair isn't breaking as much, is softer, and the color from the herbs filled in the minor bleaching that resulted from the chemicals. I am planning on doing another Beautiful Hair treatment soon... Thanks a lot!

Beeeautiful Hair - Dark
by Andrea on Jan 6, 2008

This product is wonderful!!! I bought it for my mom... My mom grew up on a farm and she said it really does look like cow slobber! :-) However, it was not nearly as bad as I expected it to be. I thought it smelled pretty good--even my husband wasn't grossed out with it! Anyways, I am now a firm believer in Beautiful Hair--Dark. After my mom and I washed our hair the next morning--the results were amazing--full, soft, and shiny hair! It's the hair I've always dreamt of having! Thank you so much!!
