The Berkey® Secret

Have you ever wondered how Berkey® purification systems remove pathogenic bacteria, cysts and parasites while extracting chemicals including herbicides, pesticides, organic solvents, VOCs, detergents, cloudiness, silt, sediment, foul tastes and odors? Or, how Berkey® systems are able to reduce heavy metals such as cadmium, chromium, copper, lead, mercury, aluminum and other unhealthy heavy metals without removing the healthful and beneficial minerals that your body needs?

The unique Berkey® design combines the age-old process of micro-porous filtration coupled with modern state-of-the-art technology and the highest quality materials to bring you the finest water purification system available anywhere. The micro-pores within the self-sterilizing and cleanable Black Berkey® purification elements are so small that pathogenic bacteria are simply not able to pass through them. The media with the elements remove contaminants by a surface phenomenon know as "adsorption" which results from the molecular attraction of substances to the surface of the media. The exclusive purification elements are also impregnated with proprietary "absorbing" media that promote IONIC "absorption" of pollutants within the micro-porous elements.

    Berkey Light
by Anonymous on Jan 21, 2014

Berkey light, is the most exciting filtering system I have come across. Every Thursday or Friday morning I turn my tap water on and I almost throw up for the smell of chorine in my tap water. I do all my drinking and cooking with the Berkey Light and I also noticed that the water from the Berkey light when tested for ph levels, it always comes out more alkaline which I am so happy for. As you all should know, disease loves to live in acidic water and foods. I am a absolute believer in this product.

    Berkey Specs

Hi - We have had our Berkey for a little over three years and LOVE it! We use it for ALL our water needs in the kitchen!

My question - with all the recent buzz about pharmaceutical residues in the public water supply I am trying to find out if the Berkey filters them out?

Also, at a recent survival conference a vendor was selling another type water filter claiming it is better than the Berkey. We of course had to talk to him as we have been QUITE HAPPY with our Berkey and wanted to let him know we thought it superior. Well, in our discussion with him he stated that Berkey does not remove ALL chlorine from public water as we thought (as where his product did). Again, my question - does the Berkey remove ALL the chlorine from public water?

Again, we are quite happy with our Berkey and do not plan on changing our system - but these two issues have come up lateley and just wanted some clarification on them.

    Thanks so much - Deb

Many water filters on the market may claim to be a purifier but do not meet the performance specifications required for this classification. In order to be classified as a water purifier, a water treatment device must remove at least 99.9999% of pathogenic bacteria (known as a log 6 reduction in the water treatment industry) and reduce viruses by 99.99% (log 4 reduction). Our Berkey water filter systems can be classified as a water purifier because the elements actually remove 99.9999999% of pathogenic bacteria (log 9 reduction) and 99.999% of viruses which greatly exceeds the standards.

The Black Berkey filters have been tested by several EPA-accredited laboratories including the Department of Toxicology and Environmental Science at Louisiana University, Spectrum Labs, and the University of Phoenix. This extensive testing confirmed that the Black Berkey Purification Elements far exceed EPA and ANSI/NSF (Std. 53) protocol.

      Hello!

When do you change these filters?
by Anonymous on May 26, 2013

It states every 3,000-6,000 gals so do I keep a chart tracking the amount of gallons we drink daily/monthly?

Re: When do you change these filters?
by Bulk Herb Store on May 28, 2013

That would be a good way of keeping track.

    Arsenic and flourish
by Nichole boggs on Mar 13, 2013

Does the black filters also filter arsenic and fluoride?

      Re: Arsenic and flouride
by Bulk Herb Store on Apr 25, 2013

No, you would need to use the PF-2 Arsenic and Fluoride reduction elements.

    From our Mailbox

Hi: Just wanted to let you know that I received my books on Monday, May 2. Everything was just perfect. My favorite so far is the cookbook Nourishing Traditions. What a wealth of information it contains! I am amazed at how very naive and ignorant I am with respect to the manufacturing and marketing of our foods. I have shared so much with my husband and, as a result, we are committed to making continual and life long changes. I have to say also that The How to Herb Book is continually found in one of my children's hands. They are quite open to learning and trying. May your business continue to bless those who find it and may God continue to Bless your business! I will place an order for the herbs as soon as I determine which ones my family would most benefit from.

    With much gratitude.
