Cloves - whole

Herbs: Cloves - whole

Cloves are a perfect breath freshener because it kills the bacteria that causes odor and leaves the mouth clean tasting and smelling. Its main component, Eugenol, is a powerful multifaceted phytochemical that anesthetizes, kills intestinal parasites, bacteria and fungi, fights free radical oxidation, and thins the blood. Cloves relieve pain, increase blood circulation, aid digestion, and are antiseptic and antimicrobial. Clove has been used to treat toothaches, earaches, colds, flu, backaches, bronchitis, dysentery, muscle aches, nausea and vomiting. Apply directly to a toothache or cold sore.

From Our Reading and/or Experience...

  • This is not like the Cloves you may find on a spice rack in a supermarket. This is much fresher and more effective.
  • Like most spices, it is potent and a little goes a long way. Nonetheless, we do go wild with it.
  • We use it often in tea and tincture combinations pertaining to circulatory issues or infections in the body. Of course, it can be used in many other types of remedies. Such as, grounding it and filling capsules with it.
  • Cloves are a food and spice. Thus, we keep it in the kitchen as all other food ingredients. We add it (ground) to many dishes (salads, meat dishes, stir fry, vegetables, etc.) to enhance the flavor and add nutritional value to our foods.
  • Cloves can be used to benefit anyone: men, women (including before, during or after pregnancy, and nursing), children and animals.
  • It can be used as often as you would like, and in any way you choose.
  • As is the case with most spices, Cloves should be stored in a dark, dry, and cool place.

Thanks for replying, Kate! Yes i will look into researching those herbs to hopefully help her. I purchased quite a few number of herbal books recommended by BHS before heading over here and many of them have been very helpful. Many of the Filipinos are fond of using herbs up here on the mountains and even grow some on their gardens but the sad part is that they have very little knowledge of it's benefits and many uses. I lent her three herbal books, Practical Herbalism, Growing 101 Herbs...and The How to Herb book. She was so happy to see pictures of the herbs she has in her own garden and that she can finally label each one and learn of it's advantage and hopefully put it to it's proper use.

Mountains of thanks to BHS!

In Christ,
grace
