Healthy Again

April 2009

When bentonite clay is taken into one’s body, metals and toxins are drawn into the ‘sponge’ through electrical attraction and bonding.

A few years ago my husband and I moved into a house infested with black mold- but we couldn’t see it and didn’t know it was there. In a short time, we both started getting sick. At first we just thought our immune systems were run down, but three months later I was in the hospital with my heart hurting. Long story short, we did not get better overnight. I tried many things. We even tried a diet for three months of no sugar, no grains, no yeast, and no dairy. We ate wild meat, organic vegetables, and, later in the diet, added some organic fruit. We felt better while we were on the diet, but after we stopped, I started getting sick again. I did some more research and found that a person’s body can hold metals and will hold them more often if your immune system is down. Having large amounts of metals in your body can be fatal. That is when I started using Sodium Bentonite Clay.

Bentonite Clay Powder is made up of a high number of tiny platelets with negative electrical charges on their flat surfaces and positive charges on their edges. When bentonite clay absorbs water it swells up to anywhere from double to triple its size; in other words, it is stretched open like a highly porous sponge. When bentonite clay is taken into one’s body, metals and toxins are drawn into the ‘sponge’ through electrical attraction and bonding. I had tried many detoxes in the past, but they all made me too sickly. My body could not handle the flush of toxins that my body discharged so suddenly. So how was this detox different? Bentonite clay does not flush toxins into the liver and kidneys; it absorbs them. It has a high astringent quality. I read that if you take a bentonite clay bath, depending on how much metal you have in your body, the clay will darken and get a little slimy. If you are highly toxic, the clay will turn black and tar-like.

I mixed 2½ lbs of the clay into a hot bath. I drank lots of water before and throughout my bath. I was sweating as I rubbed the clumps of undissolved clay against my skin, being careful to get clay on all my glands (armpits, neck, crotch, behind the knees, etc.). After 20 to 30 minutes of soaking, I got out, but left the water in. I let it sit for a few hours until the clay settled. Then I drained off the water and wiped up the very dark, slimy clay out of the tub.

This worked very well to help with my problem, but it was very time-consuming. Later, after much more research, I compounded an internal cleanser mixture with bentonite clay, active charcoal, bilberries, fiber and small amounts of other ingredients, which I call Detox+. This was my turning point.

It is best to drink bentonite on an empty stomach at least one hour before or after meals. If drinking it is too much for you, bentonite powder can also be encapsulated. Fiber helps the bentonite do its job better while getting the toxins out quicker. I started with one tablespoon of my bentonite clay compound daily, mixed with a small amount of juice. I paid attention to the results for a week, then gradually increased the dosage to no more than 4 tablespoons daily, in divided doses. As my body “cleaned house,” it started healing itself. All of a sudden, the supplements I had been taking started working again.

My body had been so overloaded with metals and toxins that it could not heal itself; now it does. I hope this helps you as it did for me. I am not a doctor and cannot advise or prescribe any treatment for you. Consult your physician, and do your own research before taking anything internally.

Directions

First Week:

Start with 1 Tbls. Detox+ in 8 oz. or more of water or juice once a day.

Second Week:

Add more after first week. Work up to 2 Tbls. a day.

I took it for over a month, about 4 to 6 weeks.

Warning:

Remember to take fiber with the bentonite clay and/or Detox+. I (Shoshanna) took 1 Tbls. fiber from Melaleuca called FiberWise. I mixed my Detox+ with the fiber and drank it in the morning before breakfast. You can use any fiber you want to, so do not feel like you have to use what I did, but if you choose to, you can get it at www.melaleuca.com. You can also find fiber at Wal-Mart or a health store.

You will not need to take bentonite clay and Detox+ together. Take one or the other.

Detox+ (which contains activated charcoal) will more than likely conflict with medication(s). If you are on medications, it is suggested to have a doctor or medical professional oversee your consumption of Detox+, especially in the case of strong medications. The same goes for vitamins and supplements.

From Our Reading and/or Experience...

Detox+ cannot be encapsulated. Bentonite clay and charcoal powder can be encapsulated.

It is best to do the bentonite clay bath at the beginning of your detox to start it off strong. You can continue doing the baths throughout the detox period.

Bentonite clay (which is one of the main ingredients in the Detox+) helps draw lead out of your system.

Dosage question
by Audra Silva on Jun 17, 2013

Do you take the 2 tablespoons at once, or divide the dose in two?

By the way, I've noticed if I seem a little foggy brained before I take this, within a couple of minutes after I finish, I'm much clearer. Love that. :)

Colitis post earlier
by Dan Cieri on Jun 14, 2013

Hi, just got both the edible and bath clay detoxes. Can't wait to try them, and I will let you know how I feel afterward.
Mainly I wanted to write to you because of the post you had on your site where someone was asking about your product and if it would help colitis. I just cured my colitis using a product called digestacure, taking probiotics, drinking lots of fluoride filtered reverse osmosis water daily, eating well, resting well and staying in shape. I'm not affiliated with digestacure, but it's something you might look at. It's a miracle to have gotten rid of colitis.....it is such a dreadful disease. I hope your customer is healing. Thanks for all you folks are doing. It's amazing to have resources like yours to utilize in getting healthy again.

Detox++ liver+ kidney+ colon cleanse
by Anonymous on Jun 9, 2013

Thank you for the sharing of all your research and caring for the health of others! I have been reading up on some of the different herbs, tinctures, and cleanses, in preparation for my own detox and health rehaul, and have come up with a few questions. If I am doing the Detox+, why would it be neccessary to also do a liver, colon, and or kidney cleanse? Wouldn't the Detox be cleansing all of my organs especially if combined with the Clay baths? Would any of the cleanses/detoxes cancel the other out?

    Re: Detox++ liver+ kidney+ colon cleanse
by Bulk Herb Store on Jun 12, 2013

The Detox+ is geared toward cleansing the colon, so it wouldn't cleanse all the other organs in your body. You would need to do additional cleanses such as liver, kidney, blood, or whichever organs you want to clean. You can do the Detox+ and Liver Cleanse at the same time. I would personally start on the Detox+ while the Liver cleanse is "brewing" and once it is finished start on that as well.

eating along with the detox +
by anna on Jun 2, 2013

I just found out that a guy who is a part of my church is on a diet (eating some vegetables/only some select foods) try to remove mold from his body. And I was wondering, that if he were to take Shoshanna's Detox+ if he could simply go back to eating a normal healthy diet while at the same time daily taking the Detox+. Apparently he was in a home that had mold in it and ended up being effected by it, so intern he is on this diet...though the diet doesn't sound very healthy, so that was why I was wondering if he took this Detox to remove the mold, could he go back to his regular eating habits? Thanks so very much for your time!!!!

Re: eating along with the detox +
by Bulk Herb Store on Jun 5, 2013

Personally I would stick with a healthy diet, including lots of fresh organic fruits and veggies, maybe do some juicing to get more nutrients from the raw veggies, and stay away from refined foods as much as possible during the cleanse. I would make sure I drink plenty of water too and take extra fiber if needed to keep things moving out!

Detox+ and Liver cleanse
by Artemus on May 21, 2013

Two questions.

1) In this thread on 3/28, in response to "Karri", you said to take Liver Cleanse then Detox+, but not together. Then on 4/26, in Response to "Joy", you said do the Detox+ then the Liver Cleanse, the opposite. Is this a change of heart, a mix up, am I missing something or does it really not matter???

2) My wife has Triple Negative Breast Cancer, metastasized to the brain. Over 4 years she has had almost every chemo in the book, lots of radiation and multiple surgeries. If anyone needs a detox it is her. She has not been on chemo in 3 months and we are finally trying alternatives than just automatically doing what the docs propose. I am thinking a detox and liver cleanse would be a good start. What else can you recommend. She has largely been kept from the worst side effects and she is in good shape physically, other than the cancer

Thanks in advance.

    Re: Detox+ and Liver cleanse
by Bulk Herb Store on May 22, 2013

[1.] It doesn't matter which of the cleanses you do first, personally I would prob. do the detox first.
[2.] If it was me I would also do a kidney and gallbladder cleanse and maybe a blood cleanse. I would also use the ImLife tincture to boost my immune system, plus it has cancer fighting properties! I would take probiotics and enzymes to build up the friendly bacteria in the intestines. These are all just suggestions for what I would do personally and I would advise talking to a natural medicine practitioner first, especially if she is taking any medications.

Thyroid Meds & Detox+
by Michelle on Apr 11, 2013

Hi! My Mother and I would like to do your liver cleanse and after that the Detox+ cleanse. However we are both on Thyroid medication. My Mother had Thyroid cancer and had to have her Thyroid completely removed. I had Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and my Thyroid is a bit on the under active side, so I am on a much smaller dosage of medication than my Mom is. Will these cleanses affect or interfere with our medication?

    Re: Thyroid Meds & Detox+
by Bulk Herb Store on Apr 30, 2013

I am not sure about the Liver Cleanse, I know some herbs interact with certain meds. and the Detox+ would definitely interfere, especially if taken too close in conjunction with your other meds. as the activated charcoal will absorb nutrients and meds. in your body along with the toxins. So I would strongly suggest talking to your Dr. first!

1. For Chronic Fatigue, Would you suggest using this for 6 weeks FIRST before using Erin's Green smoothie mix and organic beet root powder? Or taking all three of them simutaneously?

2. Would you recommend anything else For Chronic Fatigue?

3. How much of the Detox plus do I need to purchase for a full 6 week regimen? (I totaled a need of 77 TBS)
THANK YOU! Praising God there is hope to free my dad from 20 years of Chronic Fatigue.

    Re:
by Bulk Herb Store on Apr 25, 2013

You can take the Erin's drink mix and beet root powder while doing the Detox+ as long as you take it at least 2 hrs. before or after the Detox+. If it was me, I would also try to eat organic non-GMO products, organic meat, vegetables and fruit and cut out refined foods from my diet as much as possible. For 1 person using it for 6 wks., you will need approx. 1 1/2 to 2 lbs. of the Detox+ if you are following the suggestions on our website.

Question
by Joy on Mar 9, 2013

So it's ok to do the detox plus along with liver tincture simultaneously ?

    Re: Question
by Bulk Herb Store on Apr 26, 2013

You can but it's best not to overload your body with to much cleansing. It's really best to do the Detox + then the Liver Cleanse. It's also best to do them separate because you have to wait and take them 2hours apart from each other since the Detox would soak up the Liver Cleanse and make it non-effective if you took them at the same time.

Question on the flax seeds
by JoyElaine on Mar 8, 2013

I was wondering why the flax seeds in the Detox + aren't ground up. I've heard that whole flax seeds aren't digestible. Should I be chewing them, or was it the intent that the mix be ground up more before taking it?

Re: Question on the flax seeds
by Bulk Herb Store on Apr 19, 2013

The reason they are not ground up is because the whole seed is more of a "colon broom" than the powder would be, but yes you want it ground if you're taking it as a fiber. You don't need to chew them in the Detox+ and it's not intended to grind before taking.

Safe for children?
by Nichole on Mar 6, 2013

Hi, we just recieved our package of Detox+ yesterday and was wondering if it id safe for children and if we should give them 1/2 of the adult dose. They are 5,6 and 7.

    Re: Safe for children?
by Bulk Herb Store on Apr 19, 2013

A safer way to detox children would be a bentonite clay bath since the Detox+ causes constipation if you don't drink a lot of water and sometimes you need to take extra fiber. Here are some suggestions for clay baths:

Is Detox+ Safe for Children?

Give it a try
by Anonymous on Mar 1, 2013

Hoping this will reboost my digestive system since I've been feeling bloated and irregular for months. Was thinking I was becoming lactose intolerant. All im taking are birth control pills and a women's multivitamin. Hopefully I will get some good results and no side effects

    Re: Give it a try

You will need to take it at-least 2 hrs. before or after taking your meds or vitamins to keep it from absorbing them.

Detox+ is a must!
by Anonymous on Feb 24, 2013

Detox+ should be in every medicine cabinet. Here is how I was first introduced to it.

I am allergic to eggs. I realized that I had accidentally eaten some eggs when my stomach started getting that feeling of pain and nausea I get when I've eaten an egg. My sister had a supply of detox; she put a tsp into a small glass of water and said, "Here, take this." Less than 30 minutes later my stomach wasn't hurting any more. Totally took the pain away.

Yes, I'll always have this on hand. THANKS BULKHERBSTORE!

Safe for children?

Our family also got sickened from a moldy house and are recovering after being out of the house for a year and a half. I have a question about this product. Would you suggest it for young children (ages 4,6 & 7) or would you suggest another route for trying to detox heavy metals and toxins from them. Thanks for any feedback!

About the cleanse?
by Cathrine Schmidt on Feb 23, 2013

About the cleanse, do you have to eat anything special next to the cleanse? Or are you just eating like normal??

    Re: About the cleanse?
by Bulk Herb Store on Apr 19, 2013

It would be greatly beneficial to eat healthy, such as fresh veggies and fruits, and avoiding refined foods as much as possible. However you don't absolutely have to in order for it to be effective.

Detox+ usually causes constipation if you don't drink a lot of water and/or take extra fiber.

question

I was wondering if this detox+ is safe for children? And if so, what age and how much. Thanks!

    Re: question
by Bulk Herb Store on Apr 17, 2013

I would not give it to my children until they are old enough to drink 8 cups of water a day because it is important to drink lots of water to flush things out, and I would only give about 1/4 - 1/3 of the adult dosage.

Lymes Disease
by Ariel on Jan 21, 2013

What would be the best tea to drink for Lyme's Disease? In an old comment you mentioned doing equal parts of Cat's Claw, Pau D Arco, and Corn Silk. Is there a tea in the Bulk Herb Store that contains these herbs? If there is not a tea are those all the ingredients you would put for the tea?
Thank you very much,
Ariel

    Re: Lymes Disease
by Bulk Herb Store on Apr 1, 2013

We do not carry a tea with all those ingredients in it, however I think that would be a great start! Also, getting rid of heavy metals and toxins would be very helpful! You can find more about herbs for Lymes if you search on google.

Kids& detoxing
by Bobby-Jo on Jan 21, 2013

Was just wondering if children are allowed to use this detox as well. Would love to clean my children's toxins out. An age limit would be wonderfull

    Re: Kids& detoxing
by Bulk Herb Store on Apr 2, 2013

I would not give to kids too young to drink 7-8 cups of water a day, as you need to drink plenty of water, and I would only give about 1/4-1/3 the adult dosage.

detox
by Amy on Jan 15, 2013

I have a question for the detox. it says to take a hour before eating in the morning. I took it shortly before I ate breakfast, is that not going to work as well? I have to eat shortly after I get up in the morning. What is the best way to take it? Also, I have a hard time getting it down, how many capsules would it take to get enough of it? Thank you

    Re: detox
by Bulk Herb Store on Mar 29, 2013

It will still work , but if taken too close with food, it will steal the nutrients from your food. The best way to take it is in juice or water in the morning, however, if you want to encapsulate it you can, although it may be hard because of the texture. You would need to determine how much you are getting in 1 capsule and figure out how many you need to take for the dosage you want to take.

Detox/Cleanse

The problem is that I have been either pregnant or nursing for the last 5 years and I really feel like my body needs a cleanse. Auto Immune Disease
by Michelle on Jan 10, 2013

Hi! I just stumbled across your page & I was wondering if this has been successful with helping with any auto-immune diseases? I have Alopecia & from all the research I've done recently, it's been associated with the gut so I was wondering maybe if this would Detox etc. would help or if anyone else has had any success with this?

    Re: Auto Immune Disease
by Bulk Herb Store on Mar 29, 2013

It should be fine, however I would suggest asking your healthcare provider first if you have one, especially if you are taking any medications. If you have a leaky gut, probiotics and enzymes are needed to heal the gut. Also the book "Gut and Psychology Syndrome" by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride MD, might be of help to you!

Diet with Detox + plus plumbing issues?
by Kristina Aguirre on Jan 9, 2013

Hi,

What sort of diet is recommended while taking this. I assume whole foods but is there any things that might interfere with the detox? Also, I currently have no bathtub, shower only. Can I just rub the bentonite clay over my body? Will there be plumbing issues if this goes down the drain?

Re: Diet with Detox + plus plumbing issues?
by Bulk Herb Store on Mar 28, 2013

It is best to go gluten free, casein free, and sugar free while doing this and to eat as many raw foods as possible, vegetables, fruit, etc. You will want to take it on an empty stomach and wait at least 2 hours before taking any other meds, vitamins, or eating. You can just rub the clay on you but you might want to rinse it off outside because it could clog your drain if you let it all go down. I prefer doing it in the summer so I can go jump in the creek! Have fun!

Detox+

    Re: Detox+

It won't cause your body harm for them to be mixed but it would be best to just not take them while on this cleanse because it can soak up their nutrition.

We can't give out dosage amounts since we are not professionals but if I were to give this to my child I would use half the amount as given to an adult and make sure they drank plenty of water and took extra fiber to be sure they would not get constipated.

Allergy relief

Lyme Disease
by Ranae on Aug 8, 2012

I have been considering trying this product for some time. I think it would benefit me but I have a few questions. I take a lot of different tinctures and some holistic drops. I was wondering if this would in any way hinder them? Do you know if this has any kind of an affect on Lyme Disease? I take charcoal and don't have any problems with that, but I would assume that this mixture is a lot stronger. If you could answer my questions I would really appreciate it. Thank you!

    Re: Lyme Disease
by Bulk Herb Store on Dec 11, 2012

This mixture won't harm your supplements any more than plain activated charcoal will. In taking detox or charcoal you should always take them on an empty stomach. At least an hour before you eat and take supplements. For Lyme I personally would drink a tea made of equal parts of Cat's Claw, Pau D'Arco, and Corn silk.

Bentonite Clay
by Rachel on Aug 5, 2012

I am really excited to try Bentonite Clay, but I am trying to decide whether I should get the Detox+ or the regular Bentonite. I could use a detox, so I am leaning toward that. How long do you recommend doing the internal detox? Once that is over, should I switch to taking regular bentonite daily?

    Re: Bentonite Clay
by Bulk Herb Store on Dec 11, 2012

I would suggest Detox and you should do it at least a month. You can do it longer if you feel it's necessary. You do not need to take bentonite after that but you may take it for a few weeks after to do a longer cleanse.

Many benefits of Detox +
by Anonymous on Jul 19, 2012

Detox + is a great product. I found that after a week of taking it, my cravings for sugar and caffeine were gone. I took it for a month, and later I found that my monthly mood swings completely disappeared. I felt even-tempered all the time -- it was great.
It also cleared up my yeast overgrowth problem.

My husband was so impressed with my recommendation, that he took it for a month.
With the world we live in, having a good detox is beneficial for just about everyone.

Cleans me out :)
by Shelby Nutz on Jun 20, 2012

This detox mix is wonderful. I have been using detox mixes, taking
detox pills etc for years, and many of them just did not do the trick
or seemed to bloat my stomach more than clean it out. I take this mix
at night, with several cups of water. It does nothing to my system
except clean it out around noon the next day - no bloating or gas, no
pain! I am so thankful for this mix!! I am planning on taking this to
my doctor and recommending that she introduce this to other patients
who need detox for heavy metals or any other issue.

Needing an alternate way to take it.
by Cheryl on Jun 15, 2012

I just started taking Detox+ (after a Bentonite detox bath), and I thought I'd share my experience. I tried drinking it, mixed in some water with 1 Tbsp of ground flax seeds for added fiber, as recommended. I could barely get it down! Like I told my friend, it was like trying to drink a glass of mucus with seeds in it. Blech! There was no particular taste, just the texture was a problem. So, after wracking my brain, I came up with the idea of mixing the 1 Tbsp of Detox+ with a couple spoonfuls of plain yogurt, and eating the paste while drinking at least 8 oz of water. This I can do :), hopefully long enough to finish the detox.

Solved Female Issues

Thank you so much for Detox+. I was actually having some female problems and was so afraid that I would have to have surgery. It was devastating for me to even think about and the pain was affecting my wifely duties. The same time I was praying and seeking God on the matter, my husband ordered the Detox+ as a way of cleansing me from heavy metals. At the end of the Detox+ I started my monthly cycle. I do not want to get graphic but there was grey mixed in with the blood. Not only that but the pain from my twins' c-section, two years ago, is now gone! My husband and I are so grateful because now I feel like did before having twins and everything is functioning properly. God bless you and thanks!!!

Thank you for your wonderful service. Our orders come quickly, and the herbs smell so tantalizing we have to open the box and brew some tea as soon as we get it. The books you offer have been a great help, and I hope to get a few more that are on my wish list for a birthday present!! I tell everyone about your store, and have been blessed to share herbs and tinctures with friends. Thanks again for helping us to become healthier and for all of the great info.
