  • Excerpts from Nutritional Herbology

It is used primarily to treat disorders of the blood, such as poisonous bites of insects and snakes, gangrene, carbuncles and abscesses.

Recent studies show Echinacea to have immuno stimulant, antiviral, antiexudative, anti-inflammatory, bacteriostatic, and fungistatic properties. In practical use today, Echinacea is used primarily to build resistance to infections of the respiratory and digestive tracts.

The proven actions of Echinacea are due to water-soluble polysaccharides. They act by sequestering the attacks of various microbes and allow the body to heal itself. Upon reaching an infected area, the polysaccharides have an immunostimulant effect, which results in the production of leucocytes (white blood cells). The resulting phagocytic action of the leucocytes effectively eradicates a number of infectious organisms.

    From Our Reading and/or Experience...

    • We use Echinacea often in tea and tincture combinations for a wide variety of internal and external physical needs. Of course, it can be used in many other types of remedies. For instance, it can easily be made into powder, and used in capsules.
    • Echinacea is a contact healer. It can be used for a variety of inflammatory conditions externally. As such, it is a good idea to have some on hand in emergencies, and know how to use it.
    • Unlike most herbs, Echinacea should only be used when you know you have a need, rather than on a regular basis as a supplement. Again, this is different than most herbs.
    • The roots have a potent concentration of the same properties found in the tops. This makes is much more effective.
    • It can be used to benefit anyone: men, women (including before, during or after pregnancy, and nursing), children and animals.
    • It can be used as often as you would like, and in any way you choose.
    • As is the case with most herbs, Echinacea should be stored in a dark, dry, and cool place.

I love your herbs! And I have never tasted better Peppermint. I've started mixing teas for friends, and they love your herbs, too. :) My kids (almost 3 and almost 2) caught a cold at church a few weeks ago, and I've been giving them plain peppermint tea to help clear their noses when they get too stuffy. They think it's the best treat, and love it. My daughter especially loves the Sleepy Time Tea with Chamomile flowers. It's become our nightly 'thing' to have a cup of tea and read a bedtime or Bible story. Also, the Nutritional Herbology book has been of great help to me, and since I've started using Red Raspberry in most of my teas, my not-so-fun monthly female cramps have almost disappeared! Thank you so much for offering your herbs at such wonderful prices. I can't find better prices anywhere.
