Green Salve Mix - Organic

Herbal Mixes: Green Salve Mix, Organic

Green Salve Mix

Contains: Plantain Leaf Calendula Flowers Comfrey Leaf Yarrow Flower Rosemary Leaf Echinacea Root Echinacea Herb

One bag of this mix will make approximately 16-24 oz. of salve.

This is a great salve to have around for use on everything. You can rub it on wounds or put some on problem areas, then wrap it, and let the salve work.

1. Making a salve might sound difficult, but it isn’t. The thing that takes the longest is infusing your herbs with oil. The best way for you to do this is in a crock pot on very low heat.
2. Stuff a mason jar 1/3 full with herbs.
3. Fill jar with oil of your choice (coconut oil, olive oil, sweet almond oil, etc.), leaving at least one inch from the top of jar. Screw a lid on tight.
4. Put a wash cloth in the bottom of the crock pot. Put jar in the center of the pot (on the wash cloth). Fill the crock pot with water, one inch below top of jar.
5. Keep crock pot on low heat (oil needs to be very hot but not boiling) for 3 days. Water will evaporate out of the pot, so keep adding water as needed. (NEVER pour cold water over a hot glass jar.)
6. As the herbs’ properties release in the oil, the oil will have more color and smell like herb oil.
With a cheese cloth (cotton sheet or t-shirt will work too) strain herb solids out of oil. Now you have a herbal infused oil. It is good for massage oil!!!
7. To make the oil into a salve you need bees wax. You need approximately 2 oz. of grated beeswax for 8 to 9 oz. of infused oil.
8. On low heat, warm oil and bees wax until wax is all melted.
9. Add a drop of vitamin E oil for every ounce of oil. This is a natural preservative.
10. While salve is still hot, pour into your container (wide mouth jar, can, etc.).
11. Let sit over night or until salve is hard.
12. Screw a lid on tight and label with name and date. Voila!! You have a salve!!!
~ If it is too soft for you, reheat it and add a bit more beeswax. If it is too hard reheat it and add a touch more oil.
~ Salve is a thick oil that is used for, cuts, bites, burns, rashes, boils, massage, and more. Salves can keep up to five years or more.
~ Keep out of light and extreme heat.

Works so well
by Sarah on Jan 3, 2015

My midwife gave me a little 2 ounce jar of her version of this green salve. She adds Young Living essential oils (such as valor, purification, thieves, lavender, thyme, etc.) and told me I could use it as diaper rash ointment. It works so well! My kids ask for it when they have bug bites or scratches or anything, really.

I bought the mix and beeswax and am hoping my batch will turn out as magically as hers did. If it does, I hope to give some to some dear friends who are expecting their first baby. I know as a new mom, I would have loved never to have to try out all the butt paste and desitin and triple antibiotic ointments, etc., because I already had the perfect booboo salve. Thanks so muh for putting his mix and recipe together!

by Deb on Jun 24, 2014

I really enjoy herbs and all the things you can do with them. This salve is some of the best....and is fun to make as well. I would not want to be without it. I carry a little tin of it, along with band-aids in my purse for the boo boos, bites, etc. that life can bring. My husband has used it at night for a rough foot callous that came from a lawn mower accident and it helped with that as well. Thanks for all the great information on this web site. I've learned a lot from "Shoshanna's Kitchen." God Bless each one!

mixing green salve with arnica
by Brittany on Mar 18, 2014

Hi! I love your green salve and I have made it several times. I was thinking about adding arnica in with it. What do you think about this? If the green salve is more cuts, scrapes, and bites, then the arnica could help with pain?

by Bulk Herb Store on Mar 20, 2014

Arnica would be fine to add, however, keep in mind, Arnica is not supposed to be put on broken or cut skin. Thanks!

Love this!
by Dianna on Jan 24, 2014

I've use similar salves in the past so when my husband bought me this for Christmas I was excited. Finally finished my first batch last night. My family loves it. I made it with really good coconut oil and the smell is to die for! My girls even asked me to put it on there 'owies' . No more triple antibiotic ointment for us. Thank you for making this so easy!

Love Love Love
by Tricia on Dec 24, 2013

Thank you for doing the hard work of putting together these amazing healing herbs. I just made my first batch of salve and a 2nd batch of creamy salve by adding aloe vera (my favorite). These have made the perfect Christmas gifts to my good friends and family. I LOVE it!!

Combining blends to make my own
by Carla on Dec 1, 2013

Hi! I have fibromyalgia, osteo arthritis, & have not always treated my body well (work hard, play hard, but little rest). I'm thinking of combining this blend with the arthritis blend, to help combat all of this, in one salve. I'm thinking to first infuse one blend, then, in the same oil, infuse the other, to avoid thinning out the effects of each herb. Thoughts?

Re: Combining blends to make my own
by Bulk Herb Store on Dec 9, 2013

Yes, that is a brilliant idea to combine both salve mixes for added benefits, however I would recommend mixing both herb mixes together in the beginning and infusing them in the oil together to simplify the process.

This stuff works wonders!
by Kari on Sep 28, 2013

I made a huge batch of this stuff last year and we use out on EVERYTHING! Anytime my kids have a boo-boo they always ask for the "green stuff". :-) This morning this stuff blew my mind! My 2 year old stomped in a huge fire ant pile and had ants all over his feet and one of his legs biting him everywhere. Add soon as we got them all off I say him down and slathered this stuff all over his quickly dwelling and blisters feet and leg. Within a minute his screaming had stopped and he said it wasn't hurting anymore. A bit later, I checked him again and to my surprise all the blisters were practically gone. Only one or two of the biggest ones were barely visible. I love herbs! I've had unbelievers mock at my silly green junk, but I have a happy two year old to prove that this stuff works wonders! Thank you for all the herbs and mixtures you make available for us! Forever an herb girl!

Comfrey use on wounds
by Anonymous on Aug 21, 2013

I'm wondering about the use of comfrey in this salve. I read where comfrey is not recommended for internal use and yet this salve is recommended for use on wounds (which is usually open or cut skin). Can you clarify this for me, please? Thanks in advance!

    Re: Comfrey use on wounds
by Bulk Herb Store on Aug 21, 2013

To clarify, when it says not to take internally, it means not to eat or drink. Comfrey may be difficult to digest, however is recommended for use on healing wounds, cuts, scraps, etc.

Sore nipples
by Amy on Aug 19, 2013

I was wondering if this is safe to use for healing sore nursing nipples?

    Re: Sore nipples
by Bulk Herb Store on Aug 20, 2013

Yes! You can use this for soreness. Just wipe the salve off before you start nursing! Thanks.

Works miracles on bites!
by Kristy on Aug 4, 2013

Mosquitos have been horrible this year and with 4 boys there are all kinds of bites. I put a little of the salve on the bite, it stops the itch and by the next day the bite disappears. I'm going to have to order more to give as gifts because my family and friends love it!!

Definitely Amazing!
by Erica Gonzalez on Dec 24, 2012

We have been VERY impressed with this salve mix. I originally bought it for my daughter's psoriasis problem, which it helped soooo much! We have used it on rashes and stings and even on a dog bite that my son had. It works so well, but the most amazing healing was the healing of my brother's arm. He sustained an injury that left a nasty knot on this forearm and very little ability to use it at all. However, after applying the salve for 10 days, the lump was gone and he was doing push-ups. May I add that he suffered with this injury for almost a year before applying the salve. Thank you, BHS!

AMAZING and so easy to make
by Nanci Smith on Dec 12, 2012

I so appreciate all I've learned on this website and the YouTube Videos. I never would have thought I'd have the confidence to make my own salve, but I did it this week!
I made some extra for a friend to give as a gift. I used those cute little 8 oz glass Mason jars. I made a nice label and called it "Lord's Delight Healing Salve" from Psalm 35:27 (NIV) "The LORD be exalted, who delights in the well-being of his servant."

Green Salve
by Pat Sannino on Dec 9, 2012

I and my daughter have been using this salve for the last 4 years. My granddaughter has NEVER had a diaper rash and any skin irritations that last. The salve is fantastic. I now give it to new moms as a baby shower gift and everyone has loved it.

Great for Animals too!
by Paige on Oct 5, 2012

I ordered this mix for my family to use but decided to also try it on our dog. Our poor dog has had the worst summer with allergies. We've been to the vet for meds and tried every kind of shampoo they have but he has just suffered with itchy irritated skin.
I made the infused oil and keep it in the fridge to harden and it soothes his skin like nothing else! He stops itching and his skin is no longer red and inflamed. I'm so glad I found this. Thanks

by Ginny on Jul 27, 2012

I use this for all types of things. Its great for burn's takes the pain away and does not leave a scar on the area, also great for cat or dog scratch's and insect bits. My neighbor got bitten by bee's and used it and all the swelling on the face went down in second's. Its great to have on hand for any thing. I make it up and give it away to all my neighbors now. The just love it.

Gres Salve
by Tracy Thomas on Jul 25, 2012

I made this salve and had my son who suffered with severe eczema on his knees, ankles and legs. He has used it for one year now and one leg is completely cleared up and the other is just about there. No more itching, redness, sores, etc that comes along with it! Greatest salve I have ever used!!!

On a second note, we just used it on a jellyfish sting and it reduced the swelling within 15 minutes of applying it!
Love it!!

Excellent for poison ivy
by Allison on Jul 5, 2012

I made green salve and added tea tree oil. My 3 year old got a REALLY bad case of poison ivy . We put the salve on three times a day. OH me oh my, it is almost gone three days later! With only one teeny tiny blisterish lesion, that only was evident for a day. Amazing!!

by Brittany Chapman on Jun 19, 2012

Yeah!!! I just completed my "Green Salves". It was super easy to do and I am very happy with it! I can't wait to make the arthritis and muscles mix salves next!! These will make great gifts and be excellent for my own personal use. Thank you bulk herb store!!!

I LOVE this!
by Carrie Rauhe on Jun 11, 2012

I LOVE this mix! It works GREAT for mosquito bites, allergic reactions and more! It's the first thing my kids run for when they get a scrape or cut. I keep a container with me at all times. Thanks for a great mix!

Great Salve!
by Joel and Renee Pike on Jun 11, 2012

This salve has been fantastic for our family of six who live in northern Minnesota. We have lots of ticks, black flies and mosquitos here just to name a few. And when any of us gets bit, we put on this salve right away and the healing process seems to speed up and the itchiness is relieved. This salve has been nicnamed the "owie salve" and is put on any scrape, bite, burn, cut, blister you can think of. I am so thankful for this instead of the "over the counter" anti-bacterial creams. Recently I was raking up the yard and forgot to put gloves on during the process. I could feel the blisters starting to form under my sore skin. I rubbed this salve on when I got into the house and by the next day my hands were completely normal. Thank you Bulk Herb Store for creating this mix!

First of all, I just wanted to thank you for sending my order so fast!!! I did purchase the Herbs Made Simple DVD from the No Greater Joy website which, is how I found out about this website. I can’t wait for my Dr. Cinnamon Tea & Rise & Shine Tea that I ordered!!

I’ve started watching the video and I was SO surprised about the garlic poultice!!! I actually said out loud in my house, “You mean to tell me that I have a natural decongestant in my house that has more uses than spaghetti sauce & cooking?! And all I need is garlic cloves, cheese cloth, & hot water?!” Yep, made me want to stomp my foot when I realized how much money I have wasted purchasing cold medications.

I really appreciate this because my son is 3 and a lot of the over the counter medications are not made for someone his age & weight. I would rather give him something that will not harm him, but will help him at the same time.

THANK YOU Shoshanna!!!! You, your mother and your family have truly been blessed with some precious gifts and I thank you for sharing them with us!!

~Jackie L.
