Mama's Milk Tea

Premixed Remedies: Mama's Milk Tea

Here is a tea to help you nursing mamas increase your milk supply and the nutritional value of your milk.

Ingredients

Directions

I normally add 3 tablespoons of the premixed herbs to 2 cups of water. (This makes for a strong tea. You are welcome to use less than 3 tablespoons, if you find it too strong).

Bring to a gentle boil and simmer for no longer than 10 minutes. Strain off the herbs, and add raw honey, if desired. I found that drinking 3 - 6 cups a day increased my milk supply considerably. (I have drunk as much as 8 cups in one day with very good results). It's very important to stay hydrated while nursing by drinking lots of liquids. The tea helped in that as well.

From Our Reading and/or Experience...

  • This dry herb mixture can be made into a tincture. As a tincture, it would be even more effective than as a tea. Directions for making tinctures can be found on the Preparing Remedies page. Just remember to drink lots of water with it.
  • The mixture can also be ground up into powder and encapsulated.
  • Because of the Fenugreek, avoid using it internally during pregnancy.
  • This recipe is not just for nursing mamas. Because of the cleansing properties of these herbs, anyone can benefit from their cleansing effects on the liver, gall bladder and kidneys.
  • It can be used to benefit anyone: men, women (except during pregnancy), children and animals.
  • It can be used as often as you would like, and in any way you choose.
  • As is the case with most herbs, this mixture should be stored in a dark, dry, and cool place. Refrigeration or freezing is great, but certainly not necessary. Following these suggestions will delay the loss of its highly valued nutritional and medicinal properties.

Hi!
I absolutely love your Mama's Red Raspberry Brew and Mama's Milk Tea. I just received your Elderberries from which I plan to make a tincture for cold and flu season. Thank you so much for your ministry.

A question....
by Sharla on Sep 29, 2006

I love your Mama's Brew, but I always make a gallon of it to drink as ice tea...could I do the same with Mama's Milk Tea? Would I use the same quantities as with the Raspberry blend?
Thanks

Yes, you can make a gallon using the same proportion of herb mix to water.

The Vinegar of the 4 Thieves is now a necessity for our family! I just came home from a week vacationing with friends in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I had found your site as a link from No Greater Joy Ministries and was intrigued by the description of the Vinegar of the 4 Thieves. I ordered the mix of herbs and "brewed" my bug juice. I also warned my friends that I was going to smell like salad but hoped I wouldn't be bug-bitten! You see, bugs must view some kind of invisible, neon sign over my head saying, "Bite this one!!" and the biting flies and mosquitoes have a wonderful time dining on me in Michigan. I have tried all kinds of commercial bug repellents, going for the highest percentage of DEET possible for relief. Nothing has ever worked until I found this! I am now a believer in the Vinegar's properties and have made some other believers as well. No bug bites!! I also can say that I DIDN'T smell like a salad after the spray dried on my skin! No offensive odor to drive my dear friends away! There's also no greasy feel afterward as with the commercial products. My dear husband and kids are also converts--they only got bitten when they didn't get themselves sprayed or spent time in the lake without re-treating themselves afterwards! One friend sprayed one leg and not the other--the bare leg had welts all over from mosquitoes and nothing on the "treated" leg. I am so thankful to you for offering this mix and recipe--maybe I'll even make it for gifts!!

~Amy
