PF-2 reduction elements are designed for use with Black Berkey water purification elements to adsorb the following unwanted elements found in drinking water. Fluoride, Arsenic V and preoxidized Arsenic III, Other residual heavy metal ions. Under normal conditions it is recommended that each set of two PF-2 elements be replaced after 1,000 gallons.

* Replace after 1,000 Gallons

Under normal conditions it is recommended that each set of two PF-2 elements be replaced after 1,000 gallons. The Royal Berkey system is about 3.25 gallons therefore the PF-2 filters should be replaced after 1,000/3.25 or 307 refills. If the system is refilled about one time per day, the PF-2's should be replaced after 10 months, if the system is refilled about twice per day, the PF-2's should be replaced about every five months). Actual capacity is dependent on the presence of other competing contaminants in the source water. High levels of Fluoride, arsenic and heavy metals may reduce the capacity and efficiency of the elements."

water filtering through the elements

I just received my crown Berkey last week. I had a friend come this week to help me set it up. I purchased a set of PF-2 elements to go with the black Berkey filters. From the instructions we received, it says to install the PF-2 filters in the bottom chamber attached to the black Berkey filters in the top chamber. we are not getting very much water through both sets of filters...there is still water in the top chamber that has not filtered down to the bottom chamber and it's been several days. I'm wondering if we installed the filters correctly...

Yes the PF-2 filters screw onto the bottom of the black elements and go in the bottom chamber. It might be that the system wasn't primed correctly before using so I would try doing that again.
