  • 1 lb. PMS Pre-two week tincture contains chasteberry, ginseng, red raspberry, milk thistle, elderberry, dandelion, mustard seed, orange peel, nettle leaf, oat straw, lemon peel, ginger root, peppermint and feverfew.
  • ½ lb. PMS Pre-one week tincture contains chasteberry, ginseng, red raspberry, milk thistle, St. John’s wort and wild yam.
  • ½ lb. PMS Cramp tincture contains cramp bark, white willow, chamomile flower, passion flower and Valerian root.

How to make it
Fill a clean glass canning jar 1/3 full with dried herbs. Add vodka up to one inch to the top. Screw lid on tightly and store in a cool, dark place. Shake 3-7 times a week. The tincture needs to sit at least 2-6 weeks. Strain tincture and pour into a colored glass bottle, closing the lid tightly. Alcohol tinctures will last 2-3 years. Tinctures need to be kept in a cool, dark place such as a cabinet.
Why use vodka? Water rolls off the liver where alcohol goes straight to it taking the herb with it.

I always had extremely severe periods, until I started the PMS Tincture. When I say severe, I mean at 14 years old I was given a prescription muscle relaxer to help my cramps. At 15 I was put on birth control to regulate my exhaustive, uncontrollable flow. At the age of 22 I gave up and stopped taking everything, nothing seemed to help. All this changed when I started taking the PMS Tincture kit. I took the pre-2 week, three weeks before the start of my period. Basically, one week after I stopped my period. The pre-1 week, I took one week before dooms day, and the PMS cramp tea as needed during my period.

I took:

  • Pre 2 wk: 3-4 TBSP per day for severe months or 2-3 TBSP per day for normal months, starting 2 weeks before cycle.
  • Pre 1 wk: 2-3 TBSP per day, even if still taking Pre-2 wk., starting 1 week before cycle. (Discontinue pre-1 and pre-2 after cycle begins.)
  • Cramp Tea: 1 TBSP every 30 minutes, until cramps subside and 2 tsp. every 3-4 hrs after that.

The best part about the tincture mix is it works and it gives your body the extra nutrients it needs for “that time of the month”. Some greatly appreciated benefits I noticed were the sweets cravings subsided, headaches were less frequent and more manageable, and water weight is less too.

other PMS symptoms
by Josie on Mar 6, 2014

Along with cramps and bloating, I often have bad acne breakouts before or during my period. Will these tinctures help with that as well?

    Re: other PMS symptoms
by Bulk Herb Store on Mar 17, 2014

Acne, cramps, and bloating are often an effect of a hormonal imbalance. This tincture does help level hormones so that your body can handle these issues better. Also, another thing to look into, acne can also be caused by toxins in the blood, and a liver cleanse would help to clean out your blood. Check out our Liver Cleanse mix. Thanks!

No alcohol of any kind.
by Janie H. on Feb 6, 2014

I'm a Professional Truck Driver, driving a "Big Rig" Over The Road (OTR) almost everyday. I'm a huge fan of herbs and there many healthy uses. Infact, another truck driver told me about your company, and I'm so glad they did. I just can not use any alcohol for this tincture kit. Because it would put my job at risk. So my question is. . . Would the tincture kit be just as effective as a tea?

Re: No alcohol of any kind.
by Bulk Herb Store on Feb 12, 2014

Hello, you could definitely make this into a tea, however, you could also check out our instructions for making Glycerin tinctures so that you wouldn't have to use vodka. Those instructions are under the 'How-To' button on the right hand side of our website. Thanks!

Would this work even though I had a hysterectomy?
by Sandy on Jan 22, 2014

Hi, I had a partial hysterectomy about four months ago and while my doctor said everything (hormone wise) should return to normal within a few weeks, I still think my hormones are off. Do you see any disadvantages to taking this even though I've had the hysterectomy. Also, what about using this mix in smoothies instead of a tincture? Thank you!

Re: Would this work even though I had a hysterectomy?
by Bulk Herb Store on Jan 27, 2014

Hello, I do not think that this would have any disadvantages with your hysterectomy. The mix was meant to help provide a women's body with needed nutrition and the herbs to help level hormones.
I would recommend that you make it into a tincture or a tea because the herbs are not ground into a powder and that would make it difficult to take in a smoothie. Thanks!

ovarian cysts/adenmyosis
by jodi on Jan 12, 2014

Hi! I'm just starting to learn more about herbs and was wondering if these would help with ovarian cysts and adenmyosis/pelvic pain? Or if these won't help what herbs will? Also can I take these tinctures along with the liver cleanse? Thanks so much! Blessings!

Hello, yes these herbs would definitely help but you might also want to consider trying some of these herbs to help with inflammation and circulation:

Dosage amounts
by Gina Ashley on Dec 19, 2013

i made my tinctures with the 2/3 directions and am now seeing the change to 1/3. Is there anything i can do to dilute the tinctures? If not, what are disadvantages to it being too strong? Can that be counterbalanced by just reducing the amount i take?

    Re: Dosage amounts
by Anonymous on Dec 19, 2013

If you haven't let it sit for a long time, it would be ok to transfer contents into a larger jar and add more vodka. If it has already been sitting for a while, you can just reduce the amount taken like you suggested. Thank you!

by Lauren on Dec 11, 2013

I want to order this and take it for hormone health because I have very sore breasts every month and painful/irregular periods sometimes.
But now I think I may be pregnant. Is this safe to take for female health in early pregnancy, or is it just strictly for PMS?

    Re: Pregnancy
by Bulk Herb Store on Dec 11, 2013

We do not recommend using the PMS tincture mixes or Cramp tincture mix since they contain some herbs that can cause complications or miscarriage. However, if you would like some info on what herbs are beneficial while pregnant check out our article 'Herbs During Pregnancy'. Thanks!

use as a tea instead?
by ruth on Nov 29, 2013

I was wondering if these tinctures could be used as teas instead? I am assuming they can, and that you just follow the same timeline.

Re: use as a tea instead?
by Bulk Herb Store on Dec 5, 2013

Yes, you can make this into a tea! You would just follow the same basic tea guideline. Thanks!

add more vodka
by Janine on Nov 29, 2013

I accidentally followed what the paper said & filled it with 2?3 of herbs. Now I see what you mean by it being soaked up. It's been 4 days, should I add more vodka to it or just leave it alone? Thank you so much- very excited to try this!

    Re: add more vodka
by Bulk Herb Store on Dec 9, 2013

I would recommend perhaps splitting the herbs into two jars and adding more vodka to each and then let them sit for 2-6 weeks. However if you don't want to worry with the mess you could just let it sit and it will just be a very strong tincture. Thanks!

Old directions
by Gretna on Nov 5, 2013

Hi, I noticed that you have changed the directions of the amounts of these tinctures and wondering why?

    Re: Old directions
by Bulk Herb Store on Nov 6, 2013

It used to be, fill jar up 1/2 with herbs, but it was soaking up to much liquid so it was changed to fill jar up 1/3 full of dried herbs. Thanks!

by Ariel on Oct 22, 2013

Hey, I was looking into getting part of this kit, and was wondering which part - the pre-one week or the pre-two week helps more with regulating the cycle and/or hormones?

    Re: Regulating
by Bulk Herb Store on Oct 29, 2013

They all play an important part in regulating your periods and hormones. Drinking red raspberry would also help as well. Thanks!

when nursing?
by Lana on Oct 8, 2013

Hello, is it ok to take this tincture when nursing?

    Re: when nursing?
by Bulk Herb Store on Oct 9, 2013

Most of these herbs are safe to take while nursing. There are a few that are recommended to use with caution. But with it being in a mix, I would say it's fine! I would suggest you checking into these herbs to see how you feel. Thanks!

Which Alcohol?
by Rosie on Aug 10, 2013

Hello! Thank You for offering this kit. I'm very excited to try it! I am a bit curious though. I was wondering why the directions here say use vodka for the tinctures and the labels on my herbs say to use whiskey or rum? What is the difference? Thank you!

    Re: Which Alcohol?
by Bulk Herb Store on Aug 12, 2013

Which ever one you prefer. As long as they are at least 80 or 90 proof. Thanks!

Proportions of Dried herbs
by LeAnna on May 26, 2013

I recently bought this tincture kit, and after looking over the directions on this page realized that they are different than on the bag. On the bag of herbs it says 2/3 full of dried herbs and on here it says 1/3 full. Which is correct? I have been making it with the directions from the bag. Also, I was wondering if this could be made with glycerin? Thanks!

    Re: Proportions of Dried herbs
by Bulk Herb Store on May 28, 2013

You can do it both ways, the more herbs you add the stronger it will be, we used to do 2/3 but cut back to 1/3 so it should be 1/3 on the package. Thank you for pointing that out, we must have missed changing that one! Sorry!

How much will this make?
by JadeMama on Jan 25, 2013

You are, and have been for years, a special blessing from God for me. I have always had a deep interest in herbal and natural healing... amazed at all God provided for our health that is right at out feet in the field, if we're willing to learn. It is just plain fun! :) My hubby, on the other hand, is a severe and vocal critic, and has hampered all efforts to get our family a little healthier... but one day he will see, and when he does, we will take off like a shot! :) Regarding the PMS kit... could you please let me know how much this makes? Since it takes so long to "brew", I want to make sure I have enough made to last my daughter and me for a while. Thank you for all your products, but also for all the knowledge you share... loving it!! :)

Re: How much will this make?
by Bulk Herb Store on Apr 2, 2013

It should make at-least 2 quarts of each of the tinctures if you fill your jar 1/3 full.

I was so excited when my mom first told me about your site. I have been looking to find "natural ways" to take my vitamins and am looking forward to using some of the herbs my mom has already purchased. Oh, I also love that there are videos so that I am not "winging it" when it comes to what I am supposed to mix. You guys are freakin' awesome!!
