The Bottom Line by Shoshanna Easling

By now, most New Year’s resolutions have fallen by the wayside—and perhaps to the bottom if your resolution was to lose weight! Maybe your approach was wrong. Dieting is usually not effective in the long run. Low calorie diets will enable you to lose weight fast, but they will also usually lower your metabolism. What’s wrong with that? Lower metabolism means your food will not burn off as fast. Your body will be expecting less calorie intake because of the diet. Then you stop your diet. As soon as you stop it, you will gain weight faster than ever before.

How can you lose it and keep it off?

Clean your colon out. Try Detox+, cayenne, aloe, ginger, garlic, psyllium seed, and other cleansing herbs. Keep everything flushed daily. Drink lots of filtered or spring water and daily take in fiber, flax seed, chia seed, oat bran, rolled oats, whole grains, and whole wheat.

Get your liver and kidneys working right. If they function properly, your body can better process foods and eliminate waste. Look to milk thistle, burdock, dandelion root, fennel, bilberry and, of course, plenty of filtered or spring water.

Accelerate your metabolism with herbs and exercise. Get your heart pumping. Exercise at least three times a week, at least 30 minutes each time. After exercising, have a big glass of an energy herb drink like green tea, Eleuthero Root, nettle, or all three mixed.

Curb your appetite. Feed your cells richly with vitamins and minerals. This is believed to reduce cravings. Try nettle, fennel, bilberry, and chia seed. Taking a teaspoon of psyllium mixed well in 8 oz. of water or juice 30 minutes before you eat will curb your appetite, making you eat less. It also helps regulate bowel movements.

Feed your cravings. If you know that you crave sweets around a certain time, plan on feeding it with something that will satisfy the craving and help you lose weight. Try a cup of hot or cold herbal tea with honey and a dab of milk. Creamy and sweet! Try spiced chai tea, green tea, jasmine green tea, or Double E Immune Booster (one of my favorites with honey and milk). Carrots are pretty sweet too!

Eat whole foods high in fiber and lean protein. This includes foods like beans, whole grains, raw nuts, seeds, fruit, vegetables, wild game, and more. Stay away from processed foods. They are fat makers. You are likely to eat some processed foods but remember, even if it doesn’t seem like a lot of food, it is fat food. Things like potato chips and cookies are highly processed and highly fattening.

Can I make this like normal tea?
by Alison Mohr on Mar 29, 2014

Is there a reason this cannot be steeped in hot, boiled water like normal tea, rather than heating it on the stovetop for 10 minutes?

Hello, That is just fine if you prefer to steep it. Try it both ways, and see if there is a difference that you can notice. Thanks!

Is this tea safe for someone with hypothyroid of for someone who had their thyroid removed?

Can you tincture this?
by Vanessa S on Oct 19, 2013

I assume so, but can this be made into a tincture? Which would work better a tea or tincture?

    Hello,
Yes, you can make this into a tincture. Tinctures are stronger than teas, but it also makes a great tea!

Resolution tea and pregnancy
by Kristy on Oct 14, 2013

It looks like I would be able to take this tea while pregnant. But I just want to make sure since I didn't see anything written about it. All the ingredients are safe during pregnancy, right?
Thanks for your input.

    Hello!
In general, all the herbs are safe to use while pregnant. The only one I would check with is the Eleuthero Root. There isn't enough study done to say whether it's safe. Thanks!

resolution tea
by beth on Feb 13, 2013

I'm a busy wife and homeschooling mother of 4! I was losing the battle of taking care of myself because I'd be so focused on making sure everyone else was cared for first. I'd find myself resorting to quick and easy junk foods...this resolution tea has helped change that. Little by little my desires for sugary junk foods are fading!!!!

Safe while nursing?
by Alexa on Jan 10, 2013

Is this product safe while nursing? I am struggling to lose weight after 2 consecutive pregnancies and am looking for all natural ways to boost my metabolism and help burn fat & calories. I cannot risk my milk supply however, as baby still has several more months before I consider stopping.

    Re: Safe while nursing?
by Bulk Herb Store on Mar 29, 2013

It depends on whether or not you and your baby are used to caffeine, as there is a small amount of Green Tea in it. Also there is conflicting info. on the safety of Eleuthero, so I would suggest doing your own research and/or take it at your own discretion.

I purchased quite a few herbal books recommended by BHS before heading over here and many of them have been very helpful. Many of the Filipinos are fond of using herbs up here on the mountains and even grow some in their gardens. I lent a friend three herbal books- Practical Herbalism, Growing 101 Herbs That Heal and The How-To Herb Book. She was so happy to see pictures of the herbs she has in her own garden and that she can finally label each one and learn of its advantage and hopefully put it to proper use. Mountains of thanks to BHS! In Christ, Grace
