The Bottom Line by Shoshanna Easling

By now, most New Year’s resolutions have fallen by the wayside—and perhaps to the bottom if your resolution was to lose weight! Maybe your approach was wrong. Dieting is usually not effective in the long run. Low calorie diets will enable you to lose weight fast, but they will also usually lower your metabolism. What’s wrong with that? Lower metabolism means your food will not burn off as fast. Your body will be expecting less calorie intake because of the diet. Then you stop your diet. As soon as you stop it, you will gain weight faster than ever before.

How can you lose it and keep it off?

Clean your colon out. Try Detox+, cayenne, aloe, ginger, garlic, psyllium seed, and other cleansing herbs. Keep everything flushed daily. Drink lots of filtered or spring water and daily take in fiber, flax seed, chia seed, oat bran, rolled oats, whole grains, and whole wheat.

Get your liver and kidneys working right. If they function properly, your body can better process foods and eliminate waste. Look to milk thistle, burdock, dandelion root, fennel, bilberry and, of course, plenty of filtered or spring water.

Accelerate your metabolism with herbs and exercise. Get your heart pumping. Exercise at least three times a week, at least 30 minutes each time. After exercising, have a big glass of an energy herb drink like green tea, Eleuthero Root, nettle, or all three mixed.

Curb your appetite. Feed your cells richly with vitamins and minerals. This is believed to reduce cravings. Try nettle, fennel, bilberry, and chia seed. Taking a teaspoon of psyllium mixed well in 8 oz. of water or juice 30 minutes before you eat will curb your appetite, making you eat less. It also helps regulate bowel movements.

Feed your cravings. If you know that you crave sweets around a certain time, plan on feeding it with something that will satisfy the craving and help you lose weight. Try a cup of hot or cold herbal tea with honey and a dab of milk. Creamy and sweet! Try spiced chai tea, green tea, jasmine green tea, or Double E Immune Booster (one of my favorites with honey and milk). Carrots are pretty sweet too!

Eat whole foods high in fiber and lean protein. This includes foods like beans, whole grains, raw nuts, seeds, fruit, vegetables, wild game, and more. Stay away from processed foods. They are fat makers. You are likely to eat some processed foods but remember, even if it doesn’t seem like a lot of food, it is fat food. Things like potato chips and cookies are highly processed and highly fattening.

Question??
by Cathy on May 22, 2013

We are just starting the Detox+ and then will move on to the Liver Cleanse as we want to not only lose weight but get our bodies back in shape after several surgeries, meds (which we are no longer taking) and just the toxins floating around in the environment. 1) Should we wait to use the Resolution Tincture/Tea/Fiber until after we've done the Detox+ and then after the Liver Cleanse as well. Or 2) Do the Detox+ and then take the Liver Cleanse at the same time as the Resolution combo? Or 3) Do the Detox+ and then do either the Liver Cleanse for several months and then start the Resolution combo or do the Resolution Combo for several months and then do the Liver Cleanse....?? I know you can't give medical advice but any information would be greatly appreciated as you've been a tremendous help in the past.

Personally, I would do the Detox+ first then the Liver Cleanse and Resolution Tincture. You can do the Resolution while doing the Liver Cleanse, I would just not take it at the same time of the day.

Vodka
by Gigi on May 13, 2013

What is the benefit of vodka over ACV?

    Re: Vodka
by Bulk Herb Store on May 14, 2013

Vodka will make it stronger plus it has a much longer shelf life.

Side effects
by Jen combs on May 1, 2013

Are there any side effects with using this as a tincture?

    Re: Side effects
by Bulk Herb Store on May 3, 2013

The two things I would recommend to keep in mind is that it is a spicy tincture and if you try and take it on an empty stomach it may irritate it. Other than that there are no known side effects besides it helps with weight loss!

dosage
by Tina on Apr 12, 2013

Hi there!
My hubby started taking the Resolution tincture last week, a half teaspoon twice daily as recommended, and we are wondering how long he should continue taking it...? This is our first attempt at a cleanse. Also, is there a recommended dosage/method for taking bentonite clay? Thank you so much for your great products and all that you do to bless us!

    Re: dosage
by Bulk Herb Store on Apr 30, 2013

You can take it for as long as you want, but I would suggest taking a break for a few wks. every now and then so your body doesn't get too used to it. For the bentonite clay, we usually start out with 1 tsp. once a day in juice or water on an empty stomach, and over a few days' time work our way up to one Tbsp. a day and do that for 2-3 weeks. Make sure to drink plenty of water while doing this.

Breastfeeding

Hi! I am curious if this is safe to take when I am breastfeeding?

I would suggest asking your OB or other healthcare provider before using as some of the herbs have precautions.

QUESTION: can you take resolution tincture in a juice just to help get rid of the hotness of this tincture if YES does it make a difference which juice I take it with

    Re: RESOLUTION TINCTURE MIX
by Bulk Herb Store on Apr 17, 2013

Yes, you can take it with a small amount of juice, and it doesn't really matter which juice you take it with as long as it is a natural fruit juice! Or you can evaporate the alcohol in hot tea or water.

My tincture is finally ready!! I just put it into a recycled wine bottle for storage and some into a smaller bottle for easy use. Boy does it have a kick. Love the Resolution tea but this is a first so I will keep you posted on the wonderful results I am sure to have. Bright Blessings.

Vinegar substitute
by Brandy on Dec 29, 2012

Is there a certain kind of vinegar that would be the best substitute for the vodka?

    Re: Vinegar substitute
by Bulk Herb Store on Mar 25, 2013

Yes, Apple Cider Vinegar is the best, preferably organic with the mother still in it!

by Sabrina on Oct 20, 2012

Can I make an infusion with this instead of a tincture?

A tincture is best but you could try an infusion.

kung pow wow!
by Erin on Sep 10, 2012

WOW! This has a kick! Because of Shoshanna's spicy warning on youtube, I did the glycerin tincture. I gotta say, it is still REALLY hot!! But...it only lasted for a second and I chased with with a bowl of steamed broccoli. The taste was really yummy though: tasted like something I'd get from a chinese resteraunt. In fact, I have a kung pow recipe that actually tastes a little like this tincture. So this tincture is pretty good despite the blazing tongue!

Can you use something besides vodka for the resolution tincture? I do not want to use any alcohol. Thank you for your products. You are a blessing!

I live on a Greek island and there is such an abundance of herbs growing wild! However,I don't really know what they all do and how to best use them. Thanks for this fantastic site which I discovered through NGJ! I would like to give all mamas a healthy alternative to baby lotion.

Heat 2 cups of good quality olive oil with a handful of chamomile flowers (dried) and pour in a jar and allow to cool. Store in glass for future use. I use it on the children after their bath by massaging and they warm up in seconds! It also seems to help in healing cuts and abrasions.

Did you know that chamomile actually means apple of the ground in Greek (because of its apple-like smell)?

Thanks once again! ~Arlene
