Premixed Remedies: Rise and Shine Tea

One of my favorites is Sleep Tight Tea, which is a mixture of Catnip, Chamomile, , Lemon Balm, and Passion Flower. Another is Rise and Shine Tea. It has a wonderful aroma and a fantastic taste, plus it is soooo healthy. When I was young, I often heard Dad asking Mom to make him some of that "good tasting tea". She combined ginger, cloves, green tea, and peppermint, using cinnamon sticks to stir. Both of these premixed teas are best brewed in a teapot or percolator rather than just a cup at a time, because it gives the herbs more time to steep. Hot water can be added to the teapot or percolator several times so the tea can be steeped again and again and thereby getting the most out of the herbs.

Ingredients

• 1 part Bilberry leaf - cut
• 1 part Gingko leaf - cut
• 1 part Green Tea
• 1 part Peppermint leaf - cut
• 1/4 part Cloves - whole
• 1/4 part Ginger root - cut

From Our Reading and/or Experience...

• This dry herb mixture can be made into a tincture. As a tincture, it would be more effective. However, we prefer it as a tea because of its great flavor.
• The mixture can also be ground up into powder and encapsulated, as some folks simply prefer capsules.
• The Rise and Shine Tea can be used to benefit men, women (including before, during or after pregnancy, and nursing), and children.
• It can be used as often as you would like, and in any way you choose.
• As is the case with most herbs, this dry mixture should be stored in a dark, dry, and cool place. Refrigeration or freezing is great, but certainly not necessary. Following these suggestions will delay the loss of its highly valued nutritional and medicinal properties.

Thank you! Thank you! I placed my order on Wednesday and it was here Saturday. I had been out of my favorite tea (*Rise and Shine*) for a little while and really missed it. I just love this tea. I have yet to kick the coffee habit, but after a cup or two of coffee in the morning I make a pot of Rise and Shine right in my coffee pot. I drink it through out the day and make another smaller pot in the evening, using the same tea leaves, for my husband and I to enjoy after dinner. I even make an altered version of the tea for my children. I leave out the Ginkgo and Bilberry and add Cinnamon and sweeten with raw honey. They call it cinnamon tea. I call it Rise and Shine for kids. Even my two year old asks for tea in her sippy cup. And whenever they've been exposed to an illness I just add a spoonful of Echinacea to the pot. In warmer weather I make the pot the same and allow it to cool to make iced tea. Thank you for sharing this wonderful tea.
