Fight Foot Fungus!

Everyone hates athlete’s foot and toenail fungus. There are way more people that have it than we are willing to admit. If you or someone you are close to has ever suffered from it, than you how devastating it is. My husband was a fisherman in Alaska before we met. Those guys are hard core. They fish for over 24 hour straight sometimes. Wet and dirty, their feet suffer. They all end up struggling with athlete’s foot and toenail fungi. Not cool!! That is how my research on fungus began.

The following are some home remedies, herbal tinctures, natural foot soaks, and proven methods that can help prevent and cure toenail fungus and athlete's foot.

1. Vinegar Soak Treatment
For athlete’s foot, soak your feet in inexpensive apple cider vinegar 2 times a day. Keep apple cider vinegar in a 9 by 13 inch pan or Tupperware bin and change it out every week or two. With a toenail fungus, adding Horsetail/Shavegrass really helps. Horsetail/Shavegrass makes your toenails grow faster, so the infected area can grow out and the fresh toenail can grow in. To make the soak with herbs, cook it on the stove top in a large pot; add your vinegar, horsetail, and any other herbs you want like Lavender, Rose Petals, Peppermint, Eucalyptus, or Orange Peel. Cook for about 20 minutes on low/medium heat. Cool and strain the herbs from liquid. 

2. Anti-fungal Toenail Tincture
In a quart jar, add 1/2 cup of the following: Black Walnut Hull Powder, Pau D’Arco, Garlic (fresh or dried), Horsetail/Shavegrass, Lavender, and Olive Leaf.  Fill jar full of rubbing alcohol, leaving 1 1/2 inch from the top of jar. Screw lid on and let it sit 5-14 days. Strain herbs out of liquid, keeping liquid (tincture). Put tincture in a Tincture Bottle and use the dropper to drop 1-4 drops on each toenail, 2 times a day. This will turn your infected toenails a dark color as they grow out and fresh nails will grow in. 

3. Vitamins and minerals
Since athlete's foot and toenail fungus are strong fungi, make sure you boost your immune system. Eat organic, raw, and non-GMO whenever you can. Stay away from additives and preservatives. Take non-synthetic multi-vitamins and minerals. Take your minerals at a different time of the day from your vitamins.

4. Hygiene
Kill all of the germs everyday when you shower. Keep a spray bottle of apple cider vinegar in your shower and spray your feet and shower before you get out. You should spray an organic disinfectant in your shoes before wearing. Never share or wear anyone’s shoes. If you are showering in a public place wear slippers or flip flops.

5. Socks
Only wear socks that are made of cotton or wool. Cottons and wools are moisture absorbers. If you have sweaty feet, you should change your socks twice a day. Keep your feet clean and dry. Never wear shoes without socks because the fungus can keep on growing inside the dark shoes. 

6. Shoes
Always wear breathable shoes or sandals because they provide the proper ventilation for your feet. Throw all your shoes away that stink. As your feet are getting better, throw all your shoes away and get new ones.

7. Do not touch
If you scratch the infected area, and then touch yourself elsewhere, you can transmit the infection to other parts of your body. 

8. Take Action
Don’t wait around hoping it will go away. Be consistent and get rid of it. Stay consistent and keep up with treatments at least 2 weeks after the last sign of fungus is gone.
