- Gourmet Cheese Ball -

1/2 teaspoon Thyme
1/2 teaspoon Basil
1/2 teaspoon Marjoram
1/2 teaspoon Chili Peppers
1/2 teaspoon Minced Garlic
1/2 teaspoon fresh ground Black Pepper Corns
3/4 teaspoon Celtic Sea Salt
2 cream cheese cubes, softened (16 oz)
1 stick butter
1 1/4 cup cheddar cheese
1/2 cup slivered almonds

Set out the butter and cream cheese to soften. Mix together all the herbs and whip into the butter and cream cheese. Blend very well, about 4 minutes, until the mixture has an even consistency. Add the cheddar cheese and blend on low. Form mixture into a ball and roll in slivered almonds. Refrigerating for at least 2 hours before serving will harden and form the ball while infusing all the flavors together. Arrange on your favorite serving dish with bread, crackers, chips or veggies. Serve it up and prepare to wow your guests and your taste buds!

Making Babies Excerpt:

"Processed foods contain additives include flavorings that change a food's taste, colorings that change the way it looks, preservatives that extend its shelf life, and dietary additives, such as vitamins, minerals, fatty acids and other supplements. Basically anything in a package is processed and has some form of preservative. Eat as many whole foods as you can. That is raw foods you cook. Eliminate preservatives. I know you can not eliminate them all, but keep it on the forefront of your mind so as a life style you eat whole foods."

How To Make Baby Food

1 sweet potato, cooked
1/2 cup blueberries, heated
2 T. Beet (link) powder
1/4 to 1/2 cup Chicken Broth (page 38) or Vegetable Broth (page 320)
pinch sea salt

1. In a small saucepan, boil canning jar lids in water. Meanwhile, thoroughly clean glass canning jars with hot soapy water and rinse well.
2. Fill jars with baby food (veggies or fruit), leaving food one inch from top of jar.
3. With a clean, hot, damp rag, wipe down jar top. Pat dry canning lids and place on jar. Screw rings on tightly.
4. Place a small towel in bottom of pan and place jars on it.
5. Fill water up to one inch from top of jar. Cook until it starts to simmer, then cook 10 minutes more.
6. Take out hot jars with jar tongs carefully and place on a towel on counter. Don't touch or move until completely cooled, about 12-24 hours.
7. To see if jars sealed successfully, press the middle of the lid with a finger or thumb. If the lid does not spring up when you release your finger, the lid is sealed.

Super Baby Food

1/2 cup Chamomile (link)
1/4 cup Fennel (link)
3 tablespoons Fenugreek (link)
1 1/2 cups cooked carrots
3/4 cups berry smoothie (any will do)
1 teaspoon Erin's Super Green Drink (link)
1 tablespoon Beet Root Powder (link)

Pour boiling water over the first 3 ingredients and let steep for 10 minutes. Meanwhile blend all remaining ingredients in a food processor to the desired consistency.

Strain of your steeping herbs and add 1/4 cup of the "tea" to the blending mixture. Store in the fridge or freezer, and know that you are giving your baby the very best!

Thursday was my birthday!!! I am 29 years old! WOW! In some ways I still feel like I am 9 years old. I spent my birthday at the Heirloom Expo. We have had three fun, educational, and inspirational days in Santa Rosa, CA. It has been so cool to see thousands of people coming together to learn about heirloom vegetables, seed saving, compost, and so much more. We got to film so many experts for our Making Vegetable Series that I am working on. It has been a gold mine of information here. As we were packing up the Bulk Herb Store booth this evening, Lauren (one of my right-hand girls) brought me a birthday present. Chocolates!!!! Homemade spicy chocolates!!!! They were so good! It made me think of some of my favorite creamy chocolates that I love to make. I savor eating food that is amazingly scrumptious and good for you!! How cool is that? Spicy Chocolate Recipe

2 cups coconut oil (room temperature)
3 heaping tablespoons Raw Honey
1/2 tablespoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon Celtic Sea Salt
1/2 teaspoon Cinnamon Powder
1 cup sifted coco powder
3 pinches Cayenne Pepper

Mix wet ingredients together and blend in remain dry ingredients. Blend until light and fluffy and pour into your favorite mold or miniature ice cube tray. Cool in the freezer until firm and enjoy!

Immune Boosting Infusion Recipe

1/4 cup ginger
1/4 cup dandelion leaf
1/2 cup dandelion root
1/2 cup ginkgo

Instructions:
Boil enough water to cover herbs with an extra inch of water. Layer all dried herbs in a glass pint jar and cover with the simmering water. Set aside for 12 hours, strain herbs and enjoy sipping your Immune Boosting Infusion throughout the day!

Note: If you would like to make in larger quantities use 1 part both of the ginger and dandelion leaf, and two parts both of the dandelion root and ginkgo.

Ginger Snap Cookie Recipe

Cream:
1 cup room temperature butter
2 cups sucanat (unrefined sugar)
3 eggs, added separately
2 teaspoons vanilla

Combine:
2 tablespoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon allspice
2 teaspoons ginger
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 1/2 cups gluten free flour (Find the recipe in Shoshanna's new Making Babies Book)
3/4 cup almond meal

Directions:
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla one at a time, mixing well between each addition. In a separate bowl, mix all spices, baking soda, flour and almond meal. Add combined flour mix to wet ingredients and beat until smooth. Freeze batter for 10-15 minutes (optional) and drop by rounded teaspoons on a cookie sheet, 3 inches apart. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. Enjoy!
