The percentage of magnesium chloride, magnesium bromide, and sulfate varies from one salt to another. In refined salt it is totally lacking and is present in insignificant quantities in boiled salt. Its scarcity harms the kidneys and gall bladder and contributes to formation of stones. Thus, for optimum health it is imperative to use a natural salt that contains the correct ratios of magnesium salts in harmony with the biological composition of the body’s cellular fluids.

Magnesium salts are vitally needed to stimulate white blood cell activity. When magnesium-rich sea salt is used as a dressing on wounds or in any disease, it promotes healing at an accelerated pace. When sipped in a diluted solution, it banishes fatigue. Certain skin ailments, such as acne, eczema, herpes, psoriasis, and pruritis (itching) are relieved. It is known that magnesium levels, while abundant in young adults, become scarce in older persons. There is a statistical relationship between senility, impotence, and diminished magnesium salts. A 154 lb. young adult requires about 1 gram of magnesium per day.

Research traces the lack of magnesium in an organism to three distinct factors:
1. Eating grains and vegetables grown on chemically fertilized fields, noted for being deficient in magnesium salts.
2. Consuming white bread and refined grain products: The magnesium and other vital minerals in the bran are removed in the polishing of rice and sifting of flours.
3. Using refined table salt or salt that contains either no magnesium salts or less than 0.007%.

The Role of Salt in the Body
A complex salt solution surrounds and circulates around our body’s cells, forms the plasma of our blood, and constitutes the lymphatic and duodenal fluids. There are 72 macro and micro minerals that naturally occur in sea salt, and each plays a specific role in regulating optimum physiological function and safeguarding health. All of these essential elements are driven out when salt is washed, refined, or kiln-dried, which removes its many minerals. Unrefined, hand-harvested natural sea salt, used in the proper manner, has cured many people of unexplainable acute and chronic illnesses. When a person’s health fails to improve on a natural diet of whole grains and vegetables, failure can usually be attributed to the use of refined salt or to a total lack of salt in the diet. The total absence of dietary salt greatly inhibits the absorption of nutrients from grains and vegetables and renders them unable to function as medicine. Salt-free diets are unhealthy. However, salt should be used in moderation, with the understanding that small amounts of natural, quality salt will effectively displace the accumulation of stored refined salts from the body. Healthy human kidneys will excrete 6 times as much salt per liter in urine than the skin through perspiration.

Causes of Salt Craving
Salt cravings are common for many Americans that consume refined table salt or that restrict sodium in their diets. In the latter case, reducing overall salt intake does not solve the problem that creates the salt craving. When dietary magnesium intakes are low or nil, the craving for salt increases considerably and compulsively as a mechanism to replenish the lack of magnesium. This goal cannot be achieved because refined salt lacks sufficient quantities of magnesium. This leads to an over-consumption of salt.

    • 1 1/2 cups blanched almond flour
    • 1/4 cup Arrowroot Powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon Celtic Sea Salt
    • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1/4 cup grapeseed oil
    • 2 tablespoons Honey or maple syrup
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract


    1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
    2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the almond flour, arrowroot, sea salt, and baking soda. In a medium bowl, whisk together the grapeseed oil, honey or maple syrup, and vanilla extract.
    3. Stir the wet ingredients into the almond flour mixture until combined.
    4. Press the dough into a 9 1/2 inch pan or deep dish pie pan.
    5. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes, until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool completely before filling. Enjoy!

  • Berry Good Gluten Free Cupcakes

    • 20 figs
    • 3 eggs
    • 2/3 cup coconut milk
    • 1/3 cup coconut oil
    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1/2 teaspoon Celtic Sea Salt
    • 1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
    • 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice
    • 1 1/3 cup Gluten Free Self Rising Flour Mix (Making Babies Book)
    • 4 tablespoons Arrowroot Powder
    • 1/3 cup blueberries
    • 1/2 cup soaked Bilberries (save the soaking water and add to smoothies or just enjoy as a yummy juice)


    1. Preheat oven to 350°.
    2. In blender, process figs and eggs for 1 minute.
    3. Add remaining wet ingredients except berries, and blend until well combined.
    4. Mix dry ingredients in a separate bowl and fold berries into flour mixture.
    5. Slowly mix wet and dry ingredients together until just combined.
    6. Scoop into lined muffin tins and bake for 17 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
    7. Cool completely and garnish with our Creamy Goodness Icing or your favorite icing, and top with strawberries and blueberries for an extra special affect. Enjoy!

    Creamy Goodness Icing

    Every time this smooth, creamy icing dances across my palette, it just seems too good to be true. Try adding chocolate, cinnamon and spice, citrus, ginger, coconut, berries...The possibilities are endless!


    • 1/2 cup raw cashews
    • 2 cups water
    • 1/2 cup coconut oil
    • 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
    • 1/2 cup maple syrup


    1. Soak cashews in water for at least 2 hours.
    2. Strain water from cashews.
    3. Blend cashews, coconut oil, vanilla and maple syrup until smooth.
    4. Cool in refrigerator at least 1 hour.
    5. Transfer to a plastic bag, cut a hole in the corner and ice away!

  • Bentonite Clay Toothpaste Recipe

    Try our Bentonite Clay Toothpaste, made with all natural ingredients that you can make at home!



    1. Mix the first four ingredients in a medium saucepan, and simmer 30 minutes. While that’s heating, mix 1 tablespoon baking soda and 1 teaspoon Celtic Sea Salt and set aside.
    2. Next, place 1 cup of Bentonite Clay into a glass bowl. Note: it is important to use a glass bowl and wooden spoon because when the Bentonite Clay gets wet, it sets up an electromagnetic reaction which will absorb the particles inside of a metal bowl, or the toxins out of a plastic one.
    3. Remove saucepan from heat and strain off herbs, catching the liquid in a glass bowl. Slowly add the salt and baking soda mixture. Expect it to foam and bubble. This is the cinnamon and the baking soda reacting to each other. While it is still frothing, pour the liquid mixture into the bowl of Bentonite Clay, and whisk briskly. The foam will start to settle down and a smooth paste should start to form.
    4. Continue to add the remaining Bentonite Clay until the desired consistency is reached. Store in glass jars and avoid any contact with absorbable metals.
    5. That’s it! You’ve just made your own natural toothpaste!

    This breakfast muffin is packed with healthy and nutritious ingredients and oh so delicious!


    • 1/2 cup blanched almond flour
    • 1/2 cup ground Flax Seed
    • 1 teaspoon Celtic Sea Salt
    • 1 tablespoon Cinnamon
    • 2 teaspoon baking soda
    • 15 Medjool dates, pitted and chopped
    • 8 large eggs
    • 1/4 cup olive oil, grapeseed oil, or coconut oil
    • 1 cup almond butter
    • 1 1/2 cups coconut milk
    • 1 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
    • 1/4 cup water
    • 1/2 cup pumpkin seeds
    • 1/2 cup sesame seeds
    • 1/2 cup sunflower seeds
    • 1 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped
    • 1 cup currants or raisins


    1. Preheat the oven to 350º F. Line 12 muffin cups with paper liners.
    2. In a large bowl, combine the almond flour, ground flax seed, salt, cinnamon, and baking soda.
    3. In a high-powered blender, puree the dates, eggs, olive oil, almond butter, coconut milk, vanilla, and water on high speed until completely smooth.
    4. Stir the wet ingredients into the almond flour mixture until blended, then stir in the seeds, walnuts, and currants.
    5. Scoop 1/4 cup of batter into each prepared muffin cup. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center of a muffin comes out with just a few moist crumbs attached.
    6. Let the muffins cool slightly in the pan for 20 minutes, then serve warm.

  • Cheesecake ~ Gluten & Sugar Free Chocolate Mocha Style

    Was this healthy Chocolate Mocha Cheesecake made in heaven? You'll think so when you taste it! Especially since it is both gluten and sugar free!


    • 3/4 cup Raw Honey melted
    • 1/2 cup coconut clour
    • 2 eggs
    • 1/3 cup Cacao powder
    • 1 1/4 tablespoon dried instant coffee granules
    • 2 1/4 teaspoons vanilla
    • 1/4 teaspoon Celtic Sea Salt
    • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder


    1. Preheat oven to 325° F.
    2. Line the bottom of an 11-12" cheesecake springform pan with parchment paper.
    3. Combine all ingredients except for the eggs into a bowl. Then add the eggs one at a time and mix after each addition.
    4. Place dough in the center of the pan. It works best if you wet your hands before pressing the dough gently outwards as the honey does make for a very sticky dough.
    5. Bake for 20 minutes. As soon as possible after baking, slide the parchment with the brownie to a cooling rack to cool completely and remove parchment paper.


    • 4 (8 oz.) packages cream cheese, softened (don't use non-fat)
    • 3/4 cup + 1 tablespoon Honey
    • 4 eggs
    • 1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon sour cream
    • 2 tablespoons kahlua SF syrup
    • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice


    1. Preheat oven to 300° F.
    2. Grease bottom and sides of an 11-12" cheesecake springform pan or line with parchment paper.
    3. Combine cream cheese and honey and beat well, until fluffy.
    4. Add eggs one at a time and mix just until combined after each addition.
    5. Add sour cream, kahlua syrup, vanilla, and lemon juice. Mix just until combined.
    6. Pour into pan and place in the center of the oven. Bake for 65-75 min. Let cool completely!

    To prevent cracks, place a shallow pan of water on the rack below during baking.


    • 1 teaspoon unflavored gelatin
    • 1 tablespoon cold water
    • 1/3 cup Honey or maple syrup
    • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
    • 2 Tablespoons boiling water
    • 1/3 cup Cacao powder
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    • 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 teaspoons instant coffee granules


    1. In a small bowl, combine cold water with gelatin, until gelatin dissolves. Add boiling water, stirring to dissolve. Set aside. (Don’t do this step too far ahead or your gelatin will set up and make your mousse lumpy.)
    2. In a large bowl, combine sweetener, whipping cream, cocoa, vanilla, and cofee granules.
    3. Mix on high speed for 1-2 min until stiff peaks form, scraping the sides of the bowl to incorporate ingredients. Add the gelatin mix. Whip again for about a minute to incorporate. Refrigerate until needed.


    Remove cooled cheesecake from pan by carefully sliding to a flat plate. Gently place brownie layer on top of cheesecake layer and place a cake board or your serving plate on top of brownie layer. Holding on to both plates, flip it over so cheesecake layer is on top. Remove top plate and spread the mousse on the top and sides for a more “frosted” effect. Refrigerate for 2 to 4 hours or until firm.

    Makes 16 servings.

  • Chewy Chocolate Bars

    A super yummy dessert and perfect for on-the-go snacks!



    1. Place all ingredients in a food processor or standing mixer and blend until combined.
    2. In a shallow baking dish, spread mixture evenly to desired thickness. Refrigerate until chocolate is firm. Cut into bars and serve. Enjoy!

  • Chocolate Icing/Fudge on a Spoon


    • 1 cup Raw honey
    • 3/4 cup Coconut oil (cold pressed), melted
    • 1 cup Cacao powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon Celtic sea salt
    • 1/2 cup toasted pecans (optional)
    • Peppermint extract or essential oil to taste (optional)


    Combine all ingredients and mix well. Option 1: Use as icing on top of a cake. Option 2: Grease pan with coconut oil then fill with mixture. Chill for Fudge on a Spoon.

  • Chocolate Mousse Cookies/Mousse Icing



    1. Place all ingredients in blender and blend on high for 3 minutes. Use fork to crush any remaining coconut oil clumps. Blend one minute more.
    2. Spoon onto a cake, or spoon small cookie drops onto wax paper and chill until firm.

  • Dark Chocolate Coconut Balls/Chocolate Energy Bar



    1. Blend for 30 seconds. Scrape sides of bowl and blend 1 more minute.
    2. Roll in small balls. Roll balls in coconut and chill.
    3. For Energy Bars, add 1/2 cup more coconut. Press in pan to about 1/2 inch thick. Chill. Cut into bars. It is great with a banana too!

  • Fresh Coconut Mint Ice Cream

    What better way to enjoy a healthy and delicious treat with family and friends on a hot summer afternoon? Mix it up with your favorite flavors, purées or toppings!


    • 1 young coconut, milk & meat (found at Whole Foods & Asian markets)
    • 1/4 cup Raw Honey or maple syrup
    • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
    • 1/2 teaspoon Celtic Sea Salt
    • 2 tablespoons Peppermint
    • 1/4 cup simmering water
    • Favorite toppings (I love the Raw Chocolate Sauce in the Making Babies Book; page 213, or chocolate chips)


    1. Make four cuts at the top of the young coconut and drain milk into a blender. Once drained, chop the coconut in half and scrape the meat into your blender.
    2. For that fresh minty flavor, pour 1/4 cup simmering water over Peppermint and let steep for 5 minutes. Strain off the herbs and put the infusion in the freezer until cool.
    3. While Peppermint is cooling, add the Raw Honey or maple syrup, vanilla, and Celtic Sea Salt. Once cooled, add the Peppermint and blend all ingredients until smooth.
    4. Pour coconut mixture into your ice cream maker, and mix until frozen. Now for the best part! Add your favorite toppings, such as chocolate, fruits, or toasted nuts, and enjoy!

    1. Preheat oven to 350º F. Grease a 9×4-inch loaf pan with grapeseed oil and dust with almond flour.
    2. In a large mixing bowl, mix the almond butter with a handheld mixer or stand mixer until smooth; then blend in the eggs.
    3. In a medium mixing bowl, mix all the dry ingredients together.
    4. Alternately mix dry ingredients and water into egg mixture and blend until thoroughly combined.
    5. Pour batter into loaf pan and bake for 40 to 45 minutes on the bottom rack of the oven, or until a knife inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.
    6. Let the bread cool in the pan for 1 hour, then serve.

    • 3 tablespoons coconut oil
    • 3 1/2 pounds ground turkey
    • 1/8 cup + 2 teaspoons Bragg's Liquid Amino's
    • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper, freshly ground
    • 2 tablespoons Onion powder
    • 1 teaspoon Celtic sea salt
    • 1 cup parsley
    • 1 1/2 cups cilantro
    • 1/2 cup basil, chopped
    • 1/2 cup mint, chopped
    • 1 cup green onions, chopped
    • 2 tomatoes, diced
    • 2-5 garlic cloves, minced
    • 1 cup bean sprouts
    • 12 whole romaine lettuce leaves, washed and separated


    1. Put oil in a pan. Cook turkey. Add Bragg's Liquid Amino's and pepper.
    2. In a bowl, add cooked meat, onion powder, and next 8 ingredients. Mix together. Lightly stir in bean sprouts.

    3. Pinch off pieces of the dough and form into rounds about 1 1/4 inches in diameter. Roll each in the reserved coconut to coat.
    4. For the best flavor and consistency, allow the rounds to set for 24 hours before eating. Store in a tightly sealed container in the refrigerator and consume within 2-3 weeks. Enjoy!

    • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda

    • 2 tablespoons Chia seeds
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons Cinnamon powder
    • 3/4 teaspoon Ginger powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    • 1/2 cup raisins
    • 1/3 cup chopped pecans
    • 3 tablespoons apricot spreadable fruit
    • Pecan halves or chopped pecans (optional)


    1. Preheat oven to 350°. Grease a loaf pan 8.5"×4.5"×2.5"
    2. Cream together butter and sugar until fluffy. Add in eggs, orange extract and pumpkin and mix.
    3. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, chia seeds and spices; add dry mixture to wet mixture and mix. Stir in raisins and chopped pecans.
    4. Spread batter evenly in prepared loaf pan. Bake until browned for about 50 to 60 minutes, or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool bread in pan 5 minutes then remove from pan and cool on wire rack.
    5. Heat spreadable fruit until melted in small saucepan; brush on bread and garnish with pecans.

    1. Combine milk, cream, and lavender and bring to a simmer. Remove from heat, cover and steep for 30-45 min.
    2. Strain milk, then return it to saucepan, heat back to a simmer.
